1. How it works

The vehicle is fi tted with a system that facilitates
backing up operations by recognizing obstacles
that could damage the rear bumper.
When the reverse gear is selected, audible beeps
signal that the PA has been activated.
The presence of an obstacle is signalled by
intermittent beeps that increase in frequency until
they become a constant tone when the bumper gets
very close to the obstacle.
Static zone: PA detects obstacles in the external
protection zone and emits an intermittent acoustic
signal, even when the vehicle is at a standstill. The
frequency of the signal increases with the proximity
of the obstacle to the bumper.
Continuous signalling zone: this is the zone nearer
to the bumper. PA detects obstacles and emits a
continuous acoustic signal, whether the vehicle is at a
standstill or moving. If the obstacle is too close to the
bumper, the system may not emit an acoustic signal.

2. General recomendations

• Remember that this device is a valid aid during
parking manoeuvres, but that only the driver is
responsible for evaluating obstacles. He/She must
drive in a careful, prudent way to prevent damage
to persons or property.

• High speed during parking manoeuvres prevents
the obstacle from being detected in time.
• In certain circumstances, critical obstacles such as
very low, small, thin or pointed ones or generally
with low refl ective or high absorption properties or
sharp angles, may not be detected.
• Heavy rain, snow or water falling on the sensors, as
well as the presence of external ultrasonic sources,
could also give a not correct system operation with
not proper detections.
• To avoid faulty operation, snow, ice and dirt must
be cleaned from the sensors. Do not use hard or
pointed objects or high pressure spray to clean the
sensors.
3. Only when the cut-off switch is
installed (optional)
When using a trailer, the cut-off switch should be
set to OFF in order to prevent the system from
constantly detecting the trailer.
The cut-off switch is located in the vehicle's boot.
