5.3 Terminating resistances
Setting the terminating resistors in the RS485 and RS422 operation
The interface converter is equipped with an integrated, switchable terminat-
ing resistor that, depending on the application, must be switched on or off.
RS485 operation (2-/4-wire)
RS485 is the standard for a multiple point-to-point connection (up to 32
stations). The RS-485 bus cable must be terminated at the bus ends fur-
thest apart only.
RS422 Operation
RS422 is the standard for a point-to-point connection between two de-
vices. In this case, the terminating resistor must be switched on at both
ends of the RS422 transmission line.
