3 | Safety
3.1 | Intended use
The TDC finder is used to find the top dead centre (TDC) when
setting the ignition timing on two-stroke engines that do not have the
respective marking on the contact breaker plate. It is suitable for a
14-mm spark plug thread.
The prerequisite for a correct ignition timing setting is a correctly set
dwell angle or contact breaker gap (see workshop manual).
3.2 | Safety instructions
WARNING!
Danger for children!
•Keep plastic films and other packaging material
away from children. There is a danger of
suffocation.
NOTE!
Risk of damage!
•Only use the TDC finder if you have the necessary
technical knowledge. If the ignition timing is set
incorrectly, there is a risk of engine damage due
to overheating.
4 | How to use
To set the ignition timing with the TDC finder, you will need some
additional tools including a test lamp, a tool for rotating the
crankshaft on the crankshaft stump, a screwdriver and a spark plug.
Correct setting of the ignition contact breaker gap is necessary for
installation. For this, a feeler gauge or an electronic dwell angle
tester is used.
