5.2 Second C-RAY/ 8
A second C-RAY/ 8 can be used to provide
sound to a larger area and to reproduce ste-
reo sound .
To provide mono sound to a larger area, connect
the jack MIX OUT (17) of the first C-RAY/ 8 to
the jack LINE IN L (12) of the second C-RAY/ 8 .
To connect a third C-RAY/ 8, connect the
jack LINE OUT (13) of the second speaker sys-
tem to the jack LINE IN L of the third speaker
system . Proceed in the same way to connect
any further C-RAY/ 8; set the selection switch
(14) on all speaker systems to the position
MONO . Thus, it is possible to adjust the overall
volume on the first C-RAY/ 8 and to separately
adjust the volume of the other C-RAY/ 8 sys-
tems by means of the corresponding control
LINE (1) .
To reproduce stereo sound, two connection
options are available:
1 . Separate connection of the stereo channels
Send the signals for the left and right chan-
nels separately to two C-RAY/ 8 systems .
When the jack LINE IN R is used as an input,
set the selection switch (14) to the position
MONO . When other input jacks are used,
the position of the selection switch does
not matter .
2 . Feed the signal of the right channel from
one C-RAY/ 8 to another C-RAY/ 8
For the left channel, set the selection switch
(14) of the C-RAY/ 8 to the position RIGHT .
Now, the speaker system only reproduces
the left channel of the input LINE IN (12);
the signal of the right channel is available
at the output LINE OUT (13) . For the right
channel, connect the jack LINE OUT to the
jack LINE IN L (12) of the other C-RAY/ 8 .

5.3 Additional amplifier

To connect an additional amplifier, two options
are available:
1 . Connection via the jack LINE OUT (13)
At this jack, the monophonic signal of the
input LINE IN (12) is available . The selec-
tion switch (14) must be set to the position
MONO .
2 . Connection via the jack MIX OUT (17)
At this jack, the mixed signal adjusted by
means of the controls LINE, MIC, COMBI
and AUX (1 – 4) is available .

5.4 Power supply

Use the mains cable supplied to connect the
mains jack (20) of the C-RAY/ 8 to a socket
(230 V/ 50 Hz) .
6 Operation
CAUTION Never adjust the speaker system
to a very high volume . Perma-
nent high volumes may damage
your hearing!
Your ear will get accustomed to high volumes
which do not seem to be that high after some
time . Therefore, do not further increase a
high volume after getting used to it .
1) To prevent switching noise and excessive
initial volume, set the controls LINE, MIC,
COMBI and AUX (1 – 4) to the position MIN
prior to setting the speaker system into op-
eration .
2) Set the selection switch (14) to the position
MONO; otherwise, only the left channel of
the input LINE IN (12) will be reproduced .
For stereo operation, however, set the
switch for the left channel to the position
RIGHT (
 chapter 5 .2) .
3) Use the power switch (21) to switch the
unit on and off . When the unit is switched
on, the power switch and the blue power
indicator ON (10) light up .
4) Use the appropriate volume controls (1 – 4)
to mix the signals of the inputs or to fade
them in or out as desired . Always turn the
controls of unused inputs to the position
MIN .
Note: If there is feedback during microphone
operation, increase the distance between the
C-RAY/ 8 and the microphone and/or turn back
the volume control of the corresponding micro-
phone accordingly .
5) Use the control BASS (5) to adjust the de-
sired strength of the low frequencies radi-
ated by the subwoofer module .
6) The green indicator SIGNAL (10) lights
up when a specific signal level has been
reached . When the signal level is too high,
the limiter will reduce the level to protect
the speakers: In this case, the red indicator
LIMIT will light up . To retain the original
dynamic range of the signal, reduce the vol-
ume by means of the appropriate control
(1 – 4) until the indicator LIMIT extinguishes .
7) Use the appropriate control (6 – 9) to adjust
the sound of the individual input signals .
— The controls CONTOUR (6, 9) for the
inputs LINE IN and AUX IN define the
level of the aurally compensated sound
correction . The correction will boost the
high frequencies and the low frequen-
cies . The boost level depends on the po-
sition of the control LINE (1) or AUX (4) .
high
low
— Use the equalizer control (7) to continu-
ously adjust the sound for the input MIC
IN between vocals (SING), neutral (FLAT)
and speech .
— Use the equalizer control (8) to contin-
uously adjust the sound for the input
COMBI IN between neutral (FLAT), music
and speech .
