Introduction

The anti-decubitus soft positioning mattress GRAVIMED
Simplexx has been specially developed for decubitus
prophylaxis and to support therapy up to and including
decubitus category 2 and is suitable for patients up
to 135 kg. The GRAVIMED Simplexx is equipped with
a cube structure in order to achieve the best possible
cushioning and very good pressure distribution. The ex-
tra soft heel comfort zone offers the best possible relief
of the heels. The GRAVIMED Simplexx can be used in a
standard bed or an electrically adjustable hospital bed /
bed frame and is suitable for use in nursing homes and
care homes. We expressly ask you to read through the
instructions for use carefully so that you obtain the desi-
red medical effect with our product.
Important: The use of an anti-decubitus soft positioning
mattress does not replace the regular repositioning of
the patient!

ness. If one of the points listed below is missing, please
contact your specialist dealer.

Instructions for use
The GRAVIMED foam mattress was compressed for ship-
ment. Upon receipt, we recommend taking the GRAVI-
MED foam mattress out of the shipping box and laying
it out flat. This will ensure that the foam core can fully
unfold and decompress.

Indication | contraindication

INDICATION:
• For persons who must lie down for long periods of time
due to illness or disability.
• As follow-up treatment for a decubitus which has
already healed.
• Decubitus prophylaxis and support of decubitus the-
rapy up to and including category 2.
CONTRAINDICATION:
• In the event of an existing foam allergy.

Safety instructions

• The user (caregiver) must have expert knowledge to
be able to estimate the risk of decubitus (e.g. using
a recognized scale), assess and evaluate decubital
ulcers (decubitus grade according to EPUAP) and be
able to perform position changes professionally with
the patient in a lying position.

• The maximum permissible patient weight (see tech-
nical data) should not be exceeded. The weight infor-
mation is a recommendation and always refers to the
"lying position" of the user.
• Protect the Drive Medical soft positioning mattress
from pointed or sharp-edged objects and surfaces.
There is a risk of damage!
• Before each use of the Drive Medical soft positioning
mattresses, check that the mattresses are in proper
and defect-free condition.
• When using side rails on adjustable beds for disabled
persons, a sufficient distance between the top edge
of the positioning system and the upper end of the
bed rail must be ensured (220 mm according to DIN
1970:2000). If necessary, corresponding side rail risers
should/must be attached to protect the patient.

COVER
Flame--retardant according to BS 7175 Crib 5, antifungal,
antibacterial, waterproof, breathable, can be disinfec-
ted by spraying or wiping, certified according to ÖkoTex
standard 100.
GRAVIMED SIMPLEXX MATTRESS CORE
One-part foam mattress made of Rubex® HR cold foam
with a cube structure on the bed surface and a built-in
heel comfort zone; CFC -free; 100% single-origin; certi-
fied according to Öko-Tex Standard 100, product class I
covered with a Tricover undercover/mesh cover for easy
handling when changing the cover as well as protection
from dirt.

Use

Please take the GRAVIMED Simplexx out of the box.
• Remove the film using scissors and ensure that you do
not damage the GRAVIMED Simplexx.
• Check the bed for potential hazards which can damage
the soft positioning mattress; see safety instructions.
• Lay the mattress core with the cube structure facing up
in the existing bed.
• The GRAVIMED Simplexx has a heel comfort zone
which you can identify from the narrower cube struc-
ture; ensure that the heel comfort zone is located
towards the foot of the mattress.
• The GRAVIMED Simplexx comes covered with an ori-
ginal PU cover from Drive Medical and is therefore
ready to use.
• Use only a bed sheet between the cover and user, if
possible, and ensure that the bed sheet is also placed
without wrinkling.
