Bei den hochmodernen Elektrolokomotiven
der Reihe Rh 1216, auch bekannt als „Taurus
III", handelt es sich um Mehrsystem-Dreh-
strom-Maschinen mit universeller Einsetzbar-
keit über Länder- und elektrische System-
grenzen hinweg sowie besonderer Eignung
für schnelle und schwere Züge. Als ES64U4
bei Siemens entwickelt, konstruiert, gefertigt
und 2005 erstmalig vorgestellt, sind die
Lokomotiven seit 2006 u. a. bei den ÖBB,
aber auch bei kleineren Eisenbahnverkehrs-
unternehmen in Österreich, Slowenien und
Deutschland im Einsatz, sowie in den Farben
von Arriva, LTE, Adria Transport und RTS.
Die polnischen Maschinen laufen in der
Intercity-PKP-Lackierung vor dem Warschau-
Berlin-Express, einem klassischen, hochattrak-
tiven IC-Wagenzug, der täglich Berlin Hbf
erreicht. Von den 50 Lokomotiven der ÖBB
hält die Lok 1216 025 mit 357km/h den
Weltrekord bei konventionellen Elektro-
lokomotiven.

The prototype:
The very modern electric locomotives of
the series Rh 1216, also known as "Taurus III",
are multiple-current three-phase engines
that are universal applicable across borders
of electrical systems and across national
borders, with a particular applicability for
fast and heavy trains.
Developed, constructed and built as ES64U4
at Siemens, and presented for the first
time in 2005, these locomotives have been
in use since 2006 among others at the ÖBB,
but also at smaller railroad companies in
Austria, Slovenia and Germany, as well as
in the colors of Arriva, LTE, Adria Transport
and RTS. The Polish engines run in the Interci-
ty PKP varnishing in front of the Berlin-
Warszawa-Express, a classic, highly attractive
IC car train that arrives daily at Berlin Hbf.
Among the 50 locomotives of ÖBB, the
engine 1216 025 holds the world record for
conventional electric locomotives with a
speed of 357 km/h (222 mph).
