c) Optical inspection of a fibreoptic cable
To inspect a fibre optic cable using a laser, proceed as follows.
• If the PM-22 is on, switch it off first.
• Connect the cable you want to inspect to the laser output (A1).
• Switch on the PM-22 (A4).
• Switch off the laser beam by pushing the button A3. The display shows the laser symbol (B2).
Never look directly into the laser beam and never point it at people or animals. Do
not point the laser beam at mirrors or other reflective surfaces
• The cable is working if the laser beam is transmitted through the cable.
While the laser is on, push the button "Hz" (A8), the laser beam is switched from perma-
nent to flashing.
• Switch off the laser before you disconnect the cable again.
