You can connect the charger to the cigarette lighter socket in your vehicle with the aid of the supplied
adapter cable with vehicle plug (17). Switch off the ignition and other consumers before plugging in. Note
and observe the information in the operating instructions of the vehicle. The vehicle plug has its negative
terminal on the outside and positive terminal on the tip on the inside. Charging via this adapter works only
if the cigarette lighter is connected to permanent positive. It must, therefore, work even when the ignition is
off.
• When releasing the adapter cable connection from the charging cable, first press lightly on the locking mechanism
then pull the cable ends apart. Never pull on the cables with force before opening the locking mechanism.
• Insert the mains plug (13) of the charger into a mains socket (220 - 240 V/AC, 50/60 Hz). The charger is initialised
and checks each individual charging function. The indicator LEDs light up briefly.
This charger has an automatic memory function, i.e. it automatically returns to the last selected charging
mode when it is connected to the AC power supply of the grid.
• Now select a charging function with the MODE button (1). Press the button until the LED or LEDs of the desired
function light up. For a description of the individual charging modes, see 'b) Charging modes and functions' below.
Only connect the adapter cable to the battery to be charged. Never connect directly to other devices.
• Now connect the charger to the battery. Please observe the correct polarity. Connect the battery with the correct
polarity. The red adapter cable to the positive terminal, the black adapter cable to the negative terminal. Discon-
nect the cable of the red and black terminals on the battery terminals. Screw the eyelet connection firmly onto the
terminal contacts (red and black terminal and eyelet connection, black = negative terminal, red = positive terminal).
The cigarette lighter adapter simply plugs into the cigarette lighter socket of the vehicle.
If you are charging installed batteries with a connected on-board electrical system, first connect the positive
terminal, and then clip the black terminal to earth (body), at some distance from the battery and the fuel
pipe. Check the firm connection of the terminals.
• Disconnect all consumers from the battery If the battery is installed in a vehicle, switch off the ignition and other
consumers. You can switch it on again when you have ensured that everything is OK and that the total power
consumption of the consumers does not exceed 7 A.
Follow the instructions and safety information of the vehicle for information on charging the vehicle battery.
Modern vehicles are equipped with sensitive electronic components and sensors, all of which could be
damaged if you fail to proceed with caution.
• If the polarity is incorrect, the Reversed LED (11) lights up. Check the polarity and connect the terminals with the
correct polarity.
• If the charging loop is short-circuited, the Short Circuit LED (10) lights up and flashes.
• The charger detects faulty batteries automatically. In that case, the selected charging program is not started.
The Defective LED indicator (12) lights up. Have the battery checked by a professional or obtain a replacement.
• Disconnect the battery and the charger from the power supply at the end of the charging process. Remove the
mains plug (13) from the socket, then remove the black followed by the red terminal from the battery.
