Special information concerning vehicles with parking distance control (PDC)
On vehicles with PDC it is possible to deactivate the PDC for trailer operation.
17. Lay the brown/white cable (Fig. 1/10, 6/10) near the right-hand tail light to the PDC control
unit and connect it to the 8-pin plug on pin 6.
Connecting the power supply
Power is picked up directly from the battery.
18. Lay the red cable along the cable harness of the vehicle on the left side to the fuse box in the
engine compartment (Fig. 7). Pass the cable through the free cable leadthrough next to the
cable harness of the vehicle and fix it in place bay of way of some cable ties.
19. Drill a hole of 12 mm into the plastic partition above the cable harness of the vehicle and
install the grommet. Lay the cable through the grommet and from there to the fuse box (Fig. 8).
20. Let the quick-connect receptacle of the red cable of the cable harness and the one of the
enclosed single red cable lock into place in the fuse holder (Fig. 1/2 and Fig. 9/2). Close the
latch.
21. Connect the separate red cable to the positive battery terminal (Fig. 1/1, 9/1).
22. Insert a 15A fuse (Fig. 1/2, 9/2).
Note
Ensure sufficient strain relief and correct installation of the fuse holder (Fig. 9) and of the
plug-in connectors.
Checking the correct operation
23. Reconnect the ground of the vehicle's battery.
24. Check the trailer function with the help of a suitable test instrument (with load resistors) or
with the help of a trailer.
25. Secure all cables using cable ties.
26. Reattach any parts that were removed for the installation.
