3. OPERATION

The high quality operation of the rollsafe ensures
optimum movement along the lifeline. The operator
must remain within the working area while moving or
working. The maximum angle, which must not be
exceeded, is 20°. (fig.1) The operator must not move
away from the axis of the lifeline by a distance of
more than half the height of the lifeline (fig.2).
For any application other than those explicitly
described above, please contact your TRAC-
TEL® installer.

Before each use of the rollsafe :
• If possible, visual inspection of the device.
• Check the compatibility of the rollsafe with the
equipment used.
• The rollsafe must be checked in the event of a fall,
if there is any obvious deformation or any other
change in appearance (contact your TRACTEL®
installer).
• We recommend to inspect the rollsafe at least once
a year.

4. STORAGE

When it is not fitted on the travsafe™ line, the rollsafe

6. WARNINGS AGAINST HAZARDOUS OPERA-
TIONS
The following is prohibited:
• Use of the rollsafe on a lifeline other than trav-
safe™.
• Use of the rollsafe on a lifeline in a wall, incli-
ned or ground configuration.
• Use of the rollsafe on a lifeline whose anchors
are not stainless steel.
• Use of the rollsafe on a lifeline which has
bends.
• Use of a device which has stopped a fall and
which has not been serviced.
• Attaching several people to the same rollsafe.
• Use of the rollsafe for purposes other than the
fall protection of one person.
• Suspending equipment weighing more than 8
kg from the rollsafe.
• Moving out of the working area defined in
Section 3.
• Attaching oneself to the device by any means
other than its anchorage point.
• Dismantling the rollsafe or modifying it in any
way.

7. PERMISSIBLE ATTACHMENTS

See Section 12 « Permissible attachments » of the
travsafe™ operating and maintenance manual.

8. OPERATING PROBLEMS

A braking phenomenon may occur when passing
over anchors, depending on the height of the line in
relation to the operator. For this reason it is advisable
to assist the traveller by giving it an initial speed one
metre before passing over the anchor.
NB: If a retractable lifeline is used (Blocfor type or
equivalent), the operator must hold the wire rope,
lock it by pulling sharply downwards and follow the
device as it moves.
