It is absolutely vital to ensure that neither cleaning agents nor disinfectants, nor
other contaminants, are able to get inside the TESCOM EUROPE WegaMed
Compact.
The appliance must not be immersed in liquids or sterilised.

Performance test

A performance test must be carried out every time a cylinder is changed and at least every
6 months (if the appliance has been out of service).
Should faults be detected during the performance test or when the appliance is in operation,
the TESCOM EUROPE WegaMed Compact must be taken out of service immediately.
Contact TESCOM EUROPE or an authorised specialist dealer to have the fault rectified.
A complete performance test includes:
• A visual inspection for mechanical damage
• Checking the system for leaks (Chapter 5.2.1)
• Checking the pressure relief valve for leaks (Chapter 5.2.2)

5.2.1 Checking the system for leaks

1. Connect a full compressed gas cylinder. The compressed gas connections must be
screwed tight by hand only.
2. Connect a suitable item of downstream equipment and start it up.
3. Check that all screw connections and hose connections are secure.
4. Open the valve on the compressed gas cylinder slowly.
5. The cylinder pressure can now be read on the pressure regulator's inlet pressure
gauge.
6. Close the cylinder valve again.
7. Watch the pointer on the inlet pressure gauge for approx. 1 minute. If the pointer
remains constant, the system is leaktight. If the pointer drops steadily, the system is not
leaktight. In this case you should proceed as follows:
7.1 Mix a soap and water solution using perfumed soap.
7.2 Open the compressed gas cylinder.
7.3 Apply the solution to all screw connections. Bubbles will form wherever connections
are not leaktight.
7.4 Close the compressed gas cylinder.
7.5 Use up the remaining gas in the pressure regulator or vent it fully. Compliance with the
safety instructions for medical gases is mandatory. The gauge must fall back to "0".
Wait until the pressure regulator has depressurised fully before unscrewing it - failure
to do this can damage the gaskets.
7.6 In the event of leaks please replace damaged gaskets (see 5.2.3 "Replacing gaskets")
or contact TESCOM EUROPE.
7.7 Then check the system again to ensure that it is leaktight.
