4. Determine the required value for the
desired reduction in bearing internal
clearance. For normal loads and
shaft clearances, the SensorMount
Indicator display reading should be
0.450. For other loads and
clearances, and applications where
the bearing seating and bearing are
at different temperatures, the display
reading should be between 0.350
and 0.800. SKF must be consulted to
determine the correct value.
5. Pressurise the oil injector, if required,
and then start driving-up the bearing
on its seating by applying pressure to
the hydraulic nut. When the indicator
displays the required value, the
drive-up is correct.
6. Once the required value has been
obtained, release the pressure from
the oil injector. Maintain the pressure
on the hydraulic nut for at least an
additional 20 minutes. This ensures
that any oil between the bearing bore
and the tapered seating will be
squeezed out.
