CIRCLE-PEN - Infrared thermometer
Thank you for choosing this instrument from TFA.
1. Before you start using it
• Please make sure to read the instruction manual care-
fully. This information will help you to familiarise yourself
with your new device, to learn all of its functions and parts,
to find out important details about its first use and how to
operate it, and to get advice in the event of faults.
• Following and respecting the instructions in your manual
will prevent damage to your instrument and loss of your
statutory rights arising from defects due to incorrect use.
• We shall not be liable for any damage occurring as a
result of non-following of these instructions. Likewise,
we take no responsibility for any incorrect readings and
for any consequences which may result from them.
• Please take particular note of the safety advice!
• Please keep this instruction manual safe for future refer-
ence.
2. Range of application and all the benefits of your new
instrument at a glance
• For contact-free measuring of surface temperature even of
hot, hazardous, or hard-to-reach objects.
3. For your safety
• This product is exclusively intended for the range of appli-
cation described above. It should only be used as described
within these instructions.
• Unauthorized repairs, modifications or changes to the prod-
uct are prohibited.
• The product is not suitable for taking body temperature.
ATTENTION – LASER CLASS II
Never look directly into the laser beam.
Do not direct the laser beam into the eyes
It may cause permanent eye damage.

Caution!
Risk of injury!
• Do not aim too close at hot or dangerous objects or sur-
faces.
• Keep this instrument and the battery out of reach of child-
ren.
• Batteries must not be thrown into a fire, short-circuited,
taken apart or recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Batteries contain harmful acids. Low batteries should be
changed as soon as possible to prevent damage caused by
leaking.

• Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves and safety glass-
es when handling leaking batteries.
Important information on product safety!
• Do not expose your product to extreme temperatures,
vibrations or shocks.
• Protect the unit from large or abrupt ambient temperature
changes.
• Do not leave the unit near objects of high temperature.
• Do not immerse the unit in water. Water can penetrate and
cause malfunction. Protect it from moisture.
• Check the housing before using the device. Do not use the
device if it seems to be damaged. Check for cracks or miss-
ing plastic parts.
• Steam, dust, smoke, etc. can obstruct the unit optics and
prevent accurate measurement.
EMC/RFI
• Protect the unit from EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference)
from induction heaters, microwave ovens and Electro Static
Discharge. Readings may be affected if the unit is operated
within a radio frequency electromagnetic field strength of
approximately 3 volts per meter, but the performance of the
instrument will not be permanently affected.
4. Getting started
• Slide down the battery compartment lid. Insert a new bat-
tery 1,5 V AA. Ensure that the battery polarity is correct.
• Close the battery compartment again.
• The device is ready for use.
5. Use
• Press and hold the measuring button to activate the meas-
uring process.
• The backlight is automatically activated.
• The circle laser allows you to target the centre of the area to
be measured.
• Release the measuring button.
• HOLD appears on the display.
• The current, maximum and minimum values (MAX / MIN)
will be displayed each for 2 seconds.
• When not used, the instrument will automatically switch off
after 20 seconds.
• Inside the battery compartment you will find a small switch.
Depending on position, °C or °F appears on the display. Use
a pointed object (e.g. a pencil) to move the switch.
