For more information on the detector status, please refer to the
Technical Manual.
2.2.6
Internal tests
During normal operation, the flame detector performs the following self
tests:
Continuous feature test (performed automatically)
This test complies with SIL-2 requirements. The flame detector
continuously tests:
Input voltage level
All internal regulator voltage levels
Voltage level status of sensor and sensor circuitry for noise or
disconnection in the electronic circuitry
0-20 mA output level
Relays and heater operation
Processor watch dog
Software
Memory
Oscillator frequency
8
BIT (performed automatically every 15 minutes)
The BIT checks the following:
LED mode
Note: Dräger Flame 2100 and Dräger Flame 2350 only: The BIT may
1 Hz - flashing
also be performed manually.
4 Hz - flashing
Any failure is indicated by:
2 Hz - flashing
Fault relay:
Steady
Status LED: Flashes yellow (4 Hz)
0-20 mA output: indicates fault (0 mA) or BIT fault (2 mA) in wiring
option 1, 2, 3
If the BIT was not successful, it is then automatically performed every
minute. This continues, until a successful BIT occurs and the flame
detector resumes normal operation. The fault indication remains until
power is disconnected from the flame detector. The fault indication
returns if the fault is still found when power is restored.
2.3
The flame detector is an electronic device designed to sense the
occurrence of fire and flames and subsequently activate an alarm or
an extinguishing system directly or through a control circuit.
The flame detector is designed to operate as a stand-alone unit
directly connected to an alarm system or an automatic fire
extinguishing system. Each flame detector can also be a part of a more
complex system, where many detectors and other devices are
integrated through a common control unit.
