GF2 - Translation of the Original Instructions
END OF SEASON MAINTENANCE
Thoroughly clean the machine, replace both the engine and gearbox oil, clean the air filter, sharpen
the blades and grease the cutter bar.
Thanks to its very light weight, the GRILLO GF2 sickle-bar is ideal for mowing on slopes where
easy handling is needed. The cutter bar is available in 110 – 115 – 117 cm. Three kinds of cutter
bar with three different types of teeth are available:
- teeth with sharp tip (semi-dense arrangement).
- MULCHING – TIROL teeth without sharp tip.
- double blades (without vibrations for a greater comfort during work).
The cutter bar without sharp teeth is provided with side skids used to adjust the cutting height.
TIROL and MULCHING double blades bars have two middle slides for cutting height adjustment.
This teeth allow easier mowing where grass has already been cut without clogging the blade.
Cutter bar maintenance
Grease the blade movement block via the greaser every 8 working hours (fig. 8, n. 2). The
transmission box should also be greased every 8 working hours using the greaser on the side of
the guard. Keep the blade correctly adjusted by regulating the blade holders; they must not be so
tight that they lock the blade, but the clearance in relation to the teeth plates must not be
excessive. To adjust the blade-holders on both types, loosen the lock screws (fig. 7 – fig. 9, n. 2)
and tighten the retainer screw of the blade-holder by the necessary amount (fig. 7 – 9, n. 1). The
blade holders should be replaced when worn even if they are still able to apply pressure. Regulate
the clearance between the blade and the wear strip by loosening the screws securing the strip
retainers (fig. 9, n. 3) and moving the strip forward until it touches the bar holding the blade
sections in place. Then re-tighten the strip retainers. To remove the blade, take out the screws (fig.
8, n. 1), remove the blade connection and slip off the blade. Take care to tighten the fixing screws
of the coupling after fitting the blade again. Always use sharp blades: the machine will not strain
and will last longer. After every working day wash the cutter bar removing any remaining piece of
grass or mud; check occasionally that all screws are tightened.
IMPORTANT: Grillo blades are made of a special steel subjected to heat treatments. Never
weld the blades if broken or cracked, because they could break and be flung away
becoming therefore highly dangerous for people and objects around.
CAUTION: blades are cutting components, hold them with care and always wear safety
gloves.
