Basic Life Support for full version
1. Stay calm, Fred is here to help your
2 Shake the patient and ask him/her "How are you ?
What happened ?"
3 If there is no reaction, seek help and have someone
call the emergency services
4 Check if the patient is breathing and if he/she is
showing any signs of circulation
5 If the patient is breathing, roll him/her over onto
his/her side
6 If the patient is not breathing, but is showing signs
of circulation, administer artificial respiration until
the emergency services arrive
7 If the patient is not showing any signs of
circulation, stick the electrodes on his/her bare
chest as indicated
Step 4 – 7 repeat (every 20 sec) until FRED recognises that the electrodes are connected to
the patient. Then continue with steps 8, or 9 depending on the analysis mode (manual or
automatic) or with step 12 in the event of asystole.

9 Do not touch the patient, analysis in progress
SHOCK RECOMMENDED
10 Shock recommended. Charge. Do not touch the
patient
11 Administer the shock. Do not touch the patient.
Press the orange shock key
Automatic repetition of steps 9 to 11 twice – if fibrillation persists, then
12 Check if the patient is breathing and if he/she is
showing signs of circulation
13 No signs of circulation: alternately administer
artificial respiration twice and 15 cardiac
massages. If he/she is showing signs of circulation,
roll the patient onto his/her side
One minute after step 13? the device goes back to step 8 or 9 depending on the analysis mode
(manual or automatic)
OR: SHOCK NOT RECOMMENDED
14 Shock not recommended
The device goes to step 12.
