PHASE 3: HOW IT WORKS
After the acclimatisation period, you can gradually increase the food you give your Eisenia Foetida worms: 1 handful during the first week,
then 2 handfuls during week 2 ... 7 handfuls during week 7 etc.
After a while the worms will multiply, and the worm population will adapt to the amount of waste to be processed.
When the first basket is full, place the second on top of it and continue feeding in the same way. The Eisenia Foetida worms will detect
the food and climb to the upper module through the holes at the bottom of each basket. The worms will leave the bottom basket, in which
the waste will have been transformed partially or totally into vermicompost.
The third basket will be positioned when the second basket is full almost to the top.
When the third basket is full, place the two upper baskets together on the overturned cover and harvest the vermicompost from the bot-
tom basket.
You can use this vermicompost for your plants and your garden.
The empty basket will be placed on top of the vermicomposter, and will in turn become the top basket. The basket rotation procedure is
now under way.
Each week, open the valve to check that worm tea has discharged into the collection tub,
a sign that the Eco-Worms composter is working properly. You can collect the worm tea
using the specially designed measuring cup provided with your Eco-Worms composter.
It can be stored in bottles. You can use the worm tea as a liquid fertiliser for your plants,
diluted in 1 part worm tea to 10 parts water.
Every month, clean the settling tray and the collecting tub under warm running water.
