Scope of delivery
• Belt sander
• Dust bag
• Adapter for a vacuum
• Sanding belts
• Operating instructions
Initial start up
Fitting the sanding belt
DANGER! Risk of injury! Pull out the
power plug before conducting any work on
the tool.
WARNING! Risk of injury! Only use sand-
ing belts approved by the manufacturer.
Do not use worn, torn or badly damaged
sanding belts.
CAUTION! Risk of injury! Observe the
specified direction of operation of the belt!
The direction of operation printed on the
sanding belt must match the directional
arrow on the tool (10).
► P. 4, fig. 3
– Fold the tensioning lever (5) forwards.
– Position the sanding belt carefully over both guide
rollers (10).
– Fold the tensioning lever (5) back.
Setting the belt run
► P. 3, fig. 2
– Turn the adjusting screw (9) until the grinding belt
is running flush with the housing edge.
Dust extraction
WARNING! Danger of fire! When sanding
metals, do not use a dust collection device!
Hot metal participles may ignite the material
of the container.
► P. 4, fig. 4
– Operating without dust extraction: Fit the dust
bag (12) firmly to the ducts (6).
Operation
Check before switching on!
Check to make sure the unit is in a safe operating
condition:
– Check to make sure there are no visible defects.
– Check to make sure all components are securely
mounted.
Switching on and off
Activating
– Depress and hold the On/Off switch (8).
Switching to continuous operation
– Depress the On/Off switch (8).
– Hold down the locking switch (7).
26
– Release the On/Off switch (8).
Deactivating continuous operation
– Depress the On/Off switch (8). The locking
switch (7) will pop back out.
Deactivating
– Release the On/Off switch (8).
Electronic control of revolutions
The unit is fitted with an electronic revolution control
function.
NOTICE! Risk of damage to the unit! The
motor may overheat in the event of perma-
nent heavy loads and low revolutions. Run
the motor at higher revolutions in idle to
allow it to cool down.
The revolutions can be set to any level you require
(revolution range: ► Technical data – p. 27).
• Rotate revolution regulator (3) to the left to
increase the revolutions.
• Rotate revolution regulator to the right to
decrease the revolutions.
Sanding
DANGER! Danger to life due to electrical
shock! The tool may only be used for dry
sanding.
WARNING! Danger of fire! When sanding
metals, do not use a dust collection device!
Hot metal participles may ignite the material
of the container.
CAUTION! Risk of injury! The tool may
not be in contact with the work piece when
you switch it on or off.
– Always clamp work pieces or secure firmly.
– Hold the device with both hands.
– Switch the unit on and apply an even pressure to
the surface to be sanded.
Note: Excessive pressure does not result in
greater sanding performance, instead it
causes greater wear on the tool and sanding
belt.
Information regarding grinding
• Grind at moderate speed in parallel and overlap-
ping grinding paths.
• Grind in grain direction; crosswise grinding marks
reduce surface quality.
• Particularly when grinding off paint residues it
may occur that these residues melt, thus smear-
ing the material surface and the grinding belt.
Therefore, use a dust extractor.
• A grinding belt having already been used to pro-
cess metal may no longer be used for other mate-
rials.
Cleaning
DANGER! Risk of injury! Pull out the
power plug before conducting any work on
the tool.
