or the Up/Down keys ( 5 ) and ( 4 ), or just turn at the rotary channel switch ( 9 ). The dual watch symbol ( 21 ) [ DW ] will
disappear from the display. Transmitting is possible on the actual channel but it does not terminate the dual watch function.
10. Key lock function
If you press the key ( 14 ) [ DW ] and hold it for a short period, you will hear 2 seconds, after starting to press, a short receipt
tone which indicates that the key lock function is active. Now the unit ignores any entry from the function keys, the Up/Down
keys ( 5 ) and ( 4 ) and the rotary channel selector ( 9 ). Thus it is also impossible to stop most activated functions. Only
transmission is possible. The key lock mode is indicated by the symbol ( 8 ) [ KL ] in the display. The function remains even
active if the unit is switch-ed off in the meantime, provided that the supply voltage is not disconnected. To deactivate the
key lock function depress the key ( 14 ) [ DW ] once again and hold it for a short period, until you will hear 2 seconds later
a short receipt tone which indicates that the key lock function is deactivated now. At the same time the symbol ( 8 ) [ KL ]
disappears in the display.
11. Call Tone
If you press the transmit key ( 3 ) [ PTT ] together with the call key ( 2 ) [ SIGNAL ] a call tone will be transmitted and can be
heard by the partner-station providing it is switched on the same channel and same mode.
12. External Speaker Jack [ EXT-SP ]
The MC-8 ( CV mobil 80 ) Multi Norm is equipped with a 3.5 mm phone socket ( 24 ) [ EXT-SP] at the rear panel to connect an
external speaker of 4 - 8 ohm impedance. At 4 ohms the speaker load can be watts ( e.g. TEAM TS-500 ). When the external
speaker is connected the internal speaker will be switched off.
13. External Signal Meter Jack [ SMETER]
There is also at rear panel of MC-8 ( CV mobil 80 ) Multi Norm a socket ( 25 ) [ SMETER ] to connect an external S-meter
with a 2.5 mm plug ( e. g. TEAM SM 930 ). Please note that the external S-meter shows only the relative field strength of the
incoming signal. The signal strength at receiving station can be either measured with a S-meter or estimated by the own
impression.

Handling

To ensure a long life time of your MC-8 ( CV mobil 80 ) Multi Norm, you should heed the following advice:
Never switch on the device immediately after bringing it from a cold room into a heated room. Condensation water will
develop and might destroy your device. Leave the device switched off until it has reached room temperature.
Avoid operating the device outside a temperature range of 0∞C to 40∞C.
Do not expose the device to high temperatures, dampness or strong vibrations, nor to mechanical stress. The device must
not become damp nor wet.
Device which are not used, have to be free of voltage.
Store the device in a dry location.

Cleaning and maintenance

Before maintenance or cleaning works are carried out, the MC-8 ( CV mobil 80 ) Multi Norm has to be separated
from the voltage source.
Use a soft, lint-free and antistatic cleaning-cloth for the external cleaning of the device. Do not use abrasives or solvents.
Repair works are to be carried out by an expert who is familiar with the relevant regulations and dangers.
Capacitors inside of the device can still be alive when the device has been separated from all voltage sources.
The device must not be opened. Repair works or adjustments are not to be carried out by yourself, since every alteration
or adjustment could lead to a lapse of the operating permit or the warranties and warranties for repair works. Separate
the power supply.
