Membrane Replacement Guide
CHECK TDS EACH TIME SYSTEM IS SERVICED.
Warning: Operation on the system while it is plugged in may result in shock. Caution advised. Use gloves when
servicing this system to prevent contamination.
1.
For installations equipped with a by-pass valve, turn the valve to the BY-PASS position.
2.
Disconnect power cord from electrical outlet.
3.
Close feed water valve upstream from prefilters. Close tank valve.
4.
Relieve pressure on the product (permeate) water line by opening the postfilter flush valve.
5.
Tag and disconnect the FEED, CONCENTRATE and PRODUCT tubing connections on the membrane vessel.
6.
Undo the retainer clamps and remove membrane vessel.
7.
Loosen and remove clamps by unscrewing wing nut and bolt assemblies on each side of the clamp.
8.
Remove end plugs and membrane from vessel and discard old membrane.
9.
Remove O-rings from inner product ports and outer ends of pressure vessel end caps. Take care not to damage
O-ring sealing surface on end caps.
10. Clean vessel and end caps with a mild detergent soap, rinse thoroughly.
11. Replace O-rings on the end caps. Lubricate O-rings with a drinking water safe silicone lubricant.
12. Install the end of the membrane that has the brine seal into the FEED end cap and then insert into the pressure
vessel.
IF MEMBRANE IS INSTALLED FACING THE WRONG DIRECTION THE SYSTEM WILL NOT OPERATE PROPERLY.
13. Install the concentrate end cap into the pressure vessel.
14. Install retaining clamps with bolts and wing nuts.
15. Remount membrane vessel onto frame.
16. Connect feed, concentrate and product lines in their original configuration.
17. Close prefilter flush valve. Leave postfilter flush valve open and directed to drain for the initial startup flush.
18. Open feed water valve.
19. Connect power cord to electrical outlet. System will start.
20. Allow system to run with product water directed to the drain for at least 5 minutes.
21. Close postfilter flush valve. Open tank valve and check for leaks.
22. Check the system pressure while the system is running with the tank nearly full. Adjust to 110 psi by turning the
concentrate recirculation valve clockwise to increase pressure or counterclockwise to decrease pressure.
CAUTION: DO NOT LET SYSTEM PRESSURE RISE ABOVE 140 PSI AS DAMAGE TO THE SYSTEM MAY OCCUR.
23. For systems equipped with blending, adjust blending valve to desired TDS level.
Note: The TDS of the blended product water will go down when the tank pressure increases. Adjust the valve
accordingly and monitor performance before completing installation.
24. For installations equipped with a by-pass valve, turn valve on by-pass to NORMAL position.
