Electrical

WARNING: A dedicated, grounded 115 V, 60 Hz, 20 A GFCI outlet is required
The system can start at any time when power is connected. Do not connect power until the system is installed and ready
to run. The W-Series systems are equipped with a three-prong plug. Be sure the receptacle has sufficient capacity and is
on a dedicated circuit. Electrical installation should be completed by a certified electrician.
WARNING: Improper connection of the appliance-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric shock. Check
with a qualified electrician or service representative if you are in doubt whether the appliance is properly grounded. Do
not modify the plug provided with the appliance; if it will not fit the outlet, have a proper outlet installed by a qualified
technician.

System Flush and Test

Do not make the final connection to the product water storage tank until the system is flushed and tested as
outlined below. This flush procedure should also be completed whenever the membrane or filters are changed.
1.
Ensure the product water line is detached from the tank and directed to the drain. Close the inlet valve to the
tank.
2.
Turn on the water supply and check for leaks at all connections.
3.
Plug the system into the designated electrical outlet. CAUTION: The system will start.
4.
After a few minutes of run time, turn the concentrate recirculation valve clockwise until the system pressure
gauge reads 110 psi.
5.
Allow the system to flush for 15 minutes with all water discharged to drain. Periodically check for leaks and
monitor the system pressure gauge. It is likely the system pressure will drift from 110 psi during the flush
procedure. Turn the concentrate recirculation valve clockwise to increase pressure and counterclockwise to
decrease pressure. To prevent damage to the system, do not let the system pressure rise above 140 psi.

Initial Performance Verification

After the system flush, proceed with the following tests to verify the performance of the system.
Flow Test - Determine the flow rates for both product and concentrate. Put the product line into a container and
measure the volume of water for one minute. Repeat the process with drain (concentrate) line. Product flow rates
should be within 15% of the specified production rates allowing for differences in TDS and temperature.
Product to Concentrate (Brine) Ratio Test - Compute the product to concentrate (brine) ratio by dividing the
product flow by the concentrate flow rate:
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) Rejection Test - Use a TDS meter to measure the TDS in both the feed and product
water. Calculate percent rejection using the formula below. Rejection should be 85% or better.
(Feed TDS - Product TDS) / (Feed TDS) x 100 = % Rejection
Low Pressure Switch Test - While the system is running, shut off the water supply to the system. The system should
shut off. If the system does not shut-off, either unplug the system or restore the water supply. Do not let the system
run without the water supply as pump damage will occur.
