1 - Installing earth stakes :
Ineffective earthing is often the cause of the poor operation of a ultra low impedance energiser.
For an earth stake to be effective, it is important that it is located in humid ground. So choose a dip in the earth rather than a mound along the
perimeter of the installation. Likewise, preferably choose an area where the ground is fertile and/or clayey as it has more minerals and will
conduct electricity better than in a sandy or rocky area.
Do not hesitate to use a tractor loader to dig the necessary holes to install the earth stakes.
The ULTRA LOW IMPEDANCE technology of this energiser entirely depends on the quality of the earth connection. Performance will fall
drastically if it is not "perfect". The earth stakes for this type of earth installation should preferably be made of galvanized steel, with a required
length of 1 metre and spaced at 2-metre intervals (connected to each other using galvanized steel cable such as SECURGAL). A minimum
number of 5 earth stakes are required for this energiser in the most suitable ground, but this number can increase to more than 10 in difficult
conditions. The quality of the earth connection can be improved still further if you use 2/3-metre earth rods to reach a "deep" soil that will conduct
better.
Useful tip : After digging the holes for earth stakes, fill the hole with a Lacmé Bentonite, this way, the moisture in the soil will be kept around the
earth stake and significantly improve its performance.
Examples of 2 types of bovine installations according to soil type :
Damp or good conductive soil : Connect the earth terminal of the energiser to your earth stake installation and connect the output terminal to the
fence line also known as "hot wires" (see diagram 1 below).

Dry or poor conductive soil with large animals : Connect the earth terminal of the energiser to your earth stake installation and to the lowest wire
of a 3-line installation, then connect the electric output terminal to the fence line also known as "hot wires". Namely : hot wire on the top and in the
middle, negative wire at the bottom(see diagram 2 below).

2 - OPTIONAL - Installation of a return test earth stake :
In order to be able to regularly check the quality of the earth installation a separate return test earth stake may be installed.
The return test earth stake does not have to be installed with as much care as that required for the main earth stake installation. You can use a
standard LACME 2 x 30 cm earth stake connection kit . All you then have to do is install this earth stake more than 5 m away from the main earth
installation. However, as with the main earth stakes, you must be at distance of 10 m away from any other domestic earth installation of the
electricity network, telephone cables or any other network.
