Gas input for direct vent fireplace insert converted to
Natural gas:
DVC(C,P)32BP7 - 24,000 BTU per hour
DVC(C,P)36BP7 - 26,000 BTU per hour
DVCP42BP7 - 28,500 BTU per hour
DVCC42BP7 - 26,500 BTU per hour
The direct vent gas fireplace when converted to Natural
gas will have a manifold pressure of approximately
3.5" w.c. (.871 kPa) at the valve outlet with the inlet
pressure to the valve from a minimum of 4.5" w.c.
(1.120 kPa) for the purpose of input adjustment to a
maximum of 14.0" w.c. (3.484 kPa).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR CONVERSION
1. If the fireplace insert is installed, turn OFF gas
and electric supply to fireplace before making gas
conversion.
2. Remove bottom panel, grasp panel, lift and pull
forward.
3. Release two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of
firebox.
4. Remove glass frame assembly.
5. Remove logs from burner assembly.
6. Remove two 10 x 1/2" screws from rear log support.
Remove log support.
7. If applicable, remove liners and burner cover.
8. Remove four 10 x 1/2" screws from burner. Grasp
burner, lift and pull to the right to remove burner
assembly.
9. Use a 3/8" and 7/16" wrench to remove burner orifice.
10. Remove Propane gas main burner orifice from orifice
fitting.
11. Install Natural gas main burner orifice into orifice
fitting:
f or DVC(C,P)32BP7 USE ORIFICE MARKED #42
f or DVC(C,P)36BP7 USE ORIFICE MARKED #40
for DVCP42BP7 USE ORIFICE MARKED #39
for DVCC42BP7 USE ORIFICE MARKED 2.45MM
12. Disconnect the gas line from the pilot to gain access to
the pilot injector.
13. Remove Propane gas pilot injector orifice from pilot
burner.

14. Insert Appropriate Natural gas pilot injector orifice
15. Re-install gas line to the pilot.
16. Convert the gas valve as instructed in S.I.T. Natural
17. Adjust air shutter setting to 1/4" Open on all models.
18. Align burner assembly with the air shutter as you place
19. Attach burner assembly with four 10 x 1/2" screws
20. Attach rear log support with two 10 x 1/2" screws from
21. The converted fireplace must be connected to a supply

23. The fireplace must be checked to ensure it is operating
24. Replace glass frame onto firebox.
25. Secure the two glass frame spring clamps at bottom of

37. Gas conversion is completed.
The main burner flame and pilot burner flame must be
checked for proper flame characteristics, as outlined in the
Installation Instructions and Owner's Manual.
Verifying Input Rate of Converted Fireplace
The input of the fireplace must be checked as follows:
1. Turn off all other gas appliances. Clock the gas meter
2. 3600 ÷ time (in seconds) = cu. Ft. per hour.
3. Then cu. Ft. per hour x heating value of gas = input
If fireplace is not installed or warranty card has not been
returned to Empire Comfort Systems, Inc., check off type
of gas converted to on card. Also, indicate conversion by
adding "Conv." behind type of gas.
