Special Conditions for Safe Use

1. Not more than one single or multiple strand wiring lead shall be in a

2. Leads connected to the terminals shall be insulated for the

3. All terminal screws, used and unused, shall be tightened to between
0,5 and 0,7 Nm

5. The temperature at the cable gland shall not exceed 60°C.

When the sensor is used as part of a SIL2 Safety Temperature
Limiter installation:
• Perform a resistance measurement and calibration of the measuring
circuit as part of the commissioning procedure. This to ensure the
proper working of the PT100 sensor.
• Confirm the proper working of the nVent RAYCHEM MONI-PT100-EXE
(-AMB) sensor by comparing the measured temperature with the real
pipe temperature as part of commission procedure.
• Make a visual inspection of the product installation during pre
installation check. Check that the RTD wiring and shielding are
connected correctly.
• When the sensor is connected to the electrical heat-tracing cable
make sure that the fixture is correct and permanent.
Location of the MONI-PT100-EXE sensor
• Away from valves, flanges, supports, pumps or other heat sinks.
• At the top of the pipe for thermally sensitive pipe contents (A).
• On lower quadrant of pipe 90° for single heating cable (B).
• On lower quadrant of pipe centrally between the heating cables if
they are two or more (C).
Attachment of the MONI-PT100-EXE sensor
• Fix sensor firmly on surface with adequate fixing tape in two places (D).
• Fix sensor parallel to the pipe (D).
• Route extension cable to avoid damage. Fix to pipe with tape.
• Assure good thermal contact between the sensor tip and the
heated surface.
