1.
Install fasteners –
a.
Feed coiled end of pull wires through existing holes on outer side of frame rail and out of Access Hole in bottom of frame, (2) per side.
b.
Attach the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacer blocks to pull wires and pull fasteners inside the frame rails.
NOTE: Install rear fasteners first. The small spacer block (item 2) is located at rearmost attachments. Leave pull wires attached.
c.
Temporarily leave fasteners inside the frame rails. See figure 1.
2.
Install hitch –
a.
Raise hitch into position by installing the Driver's side of hitch first over top of exhaust tailpipe.
b.
Feed ends of all pull wires through mounting holes in hitch.
c.
Align holes in hitch with holes in frame. Using pull wires, pull bolts through hitch mounting holes and into position.
d.
Remove pull wires and loosely install the conical washers and hex nuts onto carriage bolts, (4) places (2 per side).
e.
Torque fasteners to specifications below.
3. Tighten all 7/16-14 Gr5 fasteners with torque wrench to 50 Lb.-Ft. ( 68 N*M)
Note: check hitch frequently, making sure all fasteners and ball are properly tightened. If hitch is removed, plug all holes in trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes. A hitch or ball which
has been damaged should be removed and replaced. Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. This product complies with safety
specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
