3.4 Cleaning and lubrication (Figs. 1, 2, 3, 4)
Cleaning
The machine - and particularly the automatic sharpening unit -should be cleaned at regular intervals.
To do this, remove the cover (23) by loosening the two bolts (24).
Note:
In a certain eccentric position, it is not possible to remove cover.
In this case, bring the eccentre into a different position by means of the friction wheel (11).
We recommend that the following parts are blown clean using compressed air once or twice per month:
a) Housing – inside
b) Cover - inside with sharpening unit and guard bar.
Note:
Remove any residual oil from the eccentre (30), friction wheel (31) and belts using a dry, absorbent
cloth.
c) Blade guide (19)
d) Cutting jaws and fluff channel
e) Rollers
Lubrication
The machine requires only very little maintenance. As previously mentioned, the oil tank which provides
continuous lubrication for the blade drive should be checked daily and topped up as necessary. On drop
of oil should be applied to each bearing lubrication point, marked with a in Fig. 2,3, roughly once every
six months.
Caution:
The lifting spindle (32), the two pressure rollers (33) and the rollers (25) are not to be lubricated!
3.5 Adjustment and repair (Figs. 2, 3, 4)
The following adjustments can be made if a malfunction occurs as a result of wear after a long period of
operation:
a) Adjustment of friction wheel:
Hold the screw (34) with a screwdriver while loosening the lock nut (35), then loosen the screw by
approx. ½ turn (anticlockwise) and tighten the nut (35).
b) Adjustment of the lifting drive:
Screw in only the left hand special screw (26) - as seen from the front - using the supplied bowtype
spring by approx. ¼ turn (clockwise)
c) Changing the blade head:
Remove the cover, blade (18), blade mounting screw (20) and connecting screw (36). Rotate the blade
head trough 90° and remove from below. Install the new blade head in reverse order. When replacing
the blade head be sure that the felt washer is saturated with oil, and that the blade contact surface
points towards the left. After replacing the connection rod screw (20) check the blade drive for freedom
of movement by cycling the machine several times by hand.
