5. Place the other 1½" PTFE washer onto the narrow end
of the stripper bolt. (See Figure 5)

6. Position the valve base with the flanges facing up,
and lay the shutter assembly over it, such that the
shutters cover the opening in the valve base. The
flanges on the valve base should nest in the notches
cut out of the shutters. (See Figure 6)

7. Tighten the stripper bolt into the valve base with a
hex head wrench. (See Figure 7)

8. Use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull the tines of

the valve spring from outside to between the shutter
handles. The tines should go around each handle,
creating pressure that keeps the shutters closed
when not in use. (See Figure 8)
