1.Do not short-circuit the battery terminals or throw the battery into a fire or a waste bin.
2.Do not attempt to dismantle or open the battery.
Installing the belt clip
Use a crosshead screwdriver and the screws provided to attach the belt clip to the back of the
device.
Note: If you have removed the belt clip, it is possible that the screwholes heat up after long
periods of use. This is perfectly normal, since metal conducts heat more efficiently than the plastic
casing.
Installing an external headset / microphone
Pull down the speaker/mic rubber cap to uncover the device's speaker/mic jacks.
Insert the external headset/microphone jacks in the SP / MIC jacks.
Note: The device is no longer water-resistant when the speaker/mic jack is used.
ON/OFF and volume control
Turn the ON/OFF / volume knob clockwise to turn on the walkie-talkie.
You will hear a short beep followed by an announcement of the active channel number.
Turn the ON/OFF / volume knob anticlockwise until you hear a click, to turn off the
walkie-talkie.
Volume adjustment
Press and hold the monitor button to hear the background noise. Next, turn the ON/OFF / volume knob
to adjust the volume to a comfortable level.
Channel selection
Turn the channel selector knob to select the desired channel. A voice announcement
indicates the corresponding channel number. Note that for channel 16, the scan function is
active.
Transmission/Reception
For communication, all the walkie-talkies within a group must be set to the same channel.
To transmit, press and hold the PTT button. The LED turns orange during transmission. Speak in a clear and
normal voice at a distance of around 8 cm from the microphone.
Release the PTT button to receive.
Note: Only one user at a time can speak during radio communication. It is therefore important not to transmit when
you're receiving a call, and to use the transmit mode judiciously so as to leave the frequency clear and allow other
users to use the transmit function.
Transmission consumes a great deal of power, therefore its use should be moderated to extend battery life.
