Installation

• Before installing the P3MB, check that the threaded connector and the
thread in its mating component are sound and without burrs. The parts must
be easy to join together.
• You must only use the seals designed by HBM.
• Devices must never be installed in a mating component without a relief bore.
The diameter of the relief bore should not be less than 2 mm. Its purpose is to
safely protect the volume at the root of the thread between the two parts, the
P3M and the tank or the pipework, against a rise in pressure. Then, even if the
seal leaks, the forces that build up can never be destructively high.
P3MBP BlueLine transducers are sealed at the pressure connection by a con­
o
ical seal of 58 in a conical hole inlet of 60
method employed by maximum pressure technology. The seal consists of cor­
rosion-resistant materials - at 5,000 bar of 1.4301, at 10,000 bar and 15,000
bar of 1.4542.
In these measuring ranges, packing is used to minimize the volume in the
measurement aperture ("dead volume"). This and the sealing cone together
make up one unit. This also makes mounting very simple.
The threaded connector has an M 20 x 1.5 thread.
Pressure transducers can be installed in any position.
But if the pressure transducer is being used to measure dynamic pressure
characteristics in liquids, it is advisable to install it with the pressure connection
pointing upward. This prevents gas accumulating in the measurement aper­
ture, where the continual alternation of compression and expansion could
cause excessive heating.
