Trouble Shooting
Problem
Unit won't turn on or shuts
off soon after turn on
Unit won't turn on or off and
battery is good
After installing new battery
display reads 8888 and tone
is steady
Unit is stuck in an undesired
function and you can't
remember how to escape
Cord flashes on display or
readings are not repeatable
ErrX flashes on display when
unit is switch on

Action
Replace battery
Remove battery for 15 seconds
and try again
Remove battery and make reverse
polarity contact with battery clips
and try again
Initialise as described under
'hidden functions' (page 15)
Check cord and base unit and
return to factory for repair if
damaged
Return to factory – unit may
need service
