4.1 PUMP PLACEMENT
Location of the water pump affects the maximum water output.
Place the pump on a sturdy, level operating surface close to the water surface. To
further maximize the output, keep total head lift low, and hose length short.
Suction Head - vertical distance from the water's surface to the pump's
inlet port.
Discharge Head - vertical distance from the pump's outlet port to the
highest point in the discharge hose.
Total Head Lift – Suction and discharge head combined. Total vertical
distance from the water surface that the pump can lift water.
Find the maximum total head lift and maximum suction head lift of your pump model
in the following chart. Do not exceed the specified limits. Keep the suction head
smaller than the discharge head, to maintain optimal output and avoid damaging the
pump. It's easier for the pump to discharge water than it is for it to draw water in.
