SWITCHES & TERMINALS
1.
Input Level Set
This
volume
control
permits
adjustment
of the
signal
available
at the
input terminals of both
right and
left chan-
nels.
Separate
level
set
of each
channel
is feasible.
When
these two
knobs are in the end-most
clockwise
position, the
M-120A
produces
its maximum
power
output.
While
in the
end-most
counter-clockwise
position,
no sound
playback
is
possible,
Note that when
you
use the M-120A
as a monura!
power
amplifier
using
the
''TDUO-ALPHA"
connection,
the
input
level set can be done with the R-ch knob,
2. AC Power Switch
Depress
the button
to turn
on
or off the power.
When
the power
is turned
on the Pilot Lamp, using an LED, begins
to blink for about 8 seconds, then it is kept lit to show that
the entire circuitry is in perfect operational condition.
3. Pilot Lamp
Switch on of the Power Switch (2) makes this lamp begin
to blink at first for about 8 seconds, and then it is kept lit to
show
that the entire circuitry
of the M-120A
is put into
perfect
operational
condition.
The
M-120A
employs
protection
circuits
which
are
over-current
sensing,
and
DC-drift
sensing.
The
Pilot Lamp
will also blinks when
one
of the protection circuits is operated.
In case the lamp blinks
over
1
minute,
a certain
accident
may
happen,
therefore
disconnect
the AC Cord from the wall socket and consult a
LUXMAN
dealer.
4, Power Indicator
A peak
level of output
power
can
be read on these
LED
indicators instantaneously.
This indicator operates when the
Selector
Switch
(5)
is either
in the
''full''
or
"1/100"
position.
Note
that
in
case
you
use
the
M-120A
in the
"Duo-Alpha''
connection, the peak power output is indicated
only
at the right channel
indicator.
Therefore
you
should
read
the
indication
at the
''DUO-ALPHA
MONO"
ranging
from 0.6 watts to 300 watts.
5.
Selector Switch for Power Indication
This switch selects the indicator sensitivity in three ways.
In the center
''off"
position,
the
Power
Indicator does not
operate.
When
it is set to the left 'full' position, the actual
peak level can be read on the Power Indicator directly, while
when
it is in the right "1/100"
position, the indicated
level
on the Power
Indicator should
be muitiplied
by 1/100.
For
instance, when the Power Indicator shows 30watt point, the
2
actual peak output level is 0.3 watts.
6. Speaker Selector Switch
Two
pairs of speaker systems can be connected
to the
M-120A for stereophonic reproduction.
This switch selects
the speaker systems connected
to the two speaker terminals
on. the
rear
penal.
In the
''main"
position,
the
MAIN
SPEAKERS
Terminal
(10) operates, while in the "remote"
position, the REMOTE
SPEAKERS Terminal (11) operates.
When
the switch
is set to the center position, the terminal
(10) and (11) operate at the same time.
Note that when you
drive
both
of
the
speaker
systems
at the
same
time,
the
impedance of each system should exceed 8 ohms.
7.
Headphone Jack
You can enjoy private listening when the plug of stereo
headphone is inserted to this jack.
In this case, reproduction
from speaker system is not feasible.
8. Input Terminal
The output of the preamplifier to be used with this set
should
be connected
to this terminal.
Free adjustment of
each left and right input sensitivity is feasible by the Input
Level Set (1). When it is set to the max.
(endmost clockwise
position),
the maximum
output power
is obtained
if an input
signal of 900mV
is applied to the input terminal.
A counter-
clockwise
turn
from
the
max
position
reduces
the
input
sensitivity until reproduction is not possible.
In
case
you
use
the
M-120A
as
a
monaural
power
amplifier
by the DUO-ALPHA
connection,
use
the
R-ch
input terminal
marked
MONAURAL".
9. DUO-ALPHA Switch
The
M-120A
is so designed
as to be used as a monaural
power
amplifier offering huge power output
of 300W
into 8
ohms
load.
The
special
circuitry
is
named
the
"DUO-
ALPHA".
This
switch
selects
reproduction
mode
of the
M-120A
between normal stereo and DUO-ALPHA.
When
the switch
is set to the left "NORMAL
STEREO"
position
the
M-120A
operates
as a stereo
power
amplifier,
while
in the right "DUO-ALPHA
MONAURAL"
position, it
operates as a monaural
power amplifier.
CAUTION:
When
the M-120A
is used as a stereo
power
amplifier
the speakers
should
be connected
only to the Speaker
Terminal
"MAIN"
(10) and/or
"REMOTE"
(11).
In case it is used as a DUO-ALPHA
monaural
amplifier,
the
DUO-ALPHA
OUTPUT
Terminal (12) should only be connected,
10. 11. Speaker Terminals
Connect
speaker
systems
to
these
terminals.
These
terminals are coupled with the Speaker Selector Switch (6),
which
has to be set to the very position corresponding to the
terminals
to which
the speaker systems are connected,
The
Terminal
(10)
is for Main
Speaker system and the Terminal
(11) is for Remote Speaker system.
Red terminal is for (+),
while black for (—).
CAUTION:
In case you use these speaker terminals,
never connect
a speaker system
to the '""DUO-ALPHA
OUTPUT" terminal.
12. DUO-ALPHA OUTPUT Terminal
The
monaural
power
output
can
be taken
from
this
terminal
when
you
use
the
M-120A
as a monaural
power
amplifier
by
Duo-Alpha
connection.
CAUTION:
When this terminal is used, never connect
speaker
systems
to the Speaker Terminals
(10) and
(11), which
is for stereophonic
reproduction,
In no
case the DUO-ALPHA OUTPUT
should be grounded.
13.
AC Cord
For operation of the M-120A, the AC plug attached to
this cord should be connected to the AC power supply point
in your listening room.
