Lamp (3) also remains on whenever the resistor is
working.
• In the normal course of the program the furnace
can be stopped at any time by holding down
Stop/Start (5) for approximately 5 seconds. You
can also enter programming mode and modify the
parameters of the program which is running if you
wish.
• If there is a power cut the furnace retains in its
memory the parameters of the step in progress,
and when power is restored the program will
continue from the point at which it stopped. If the
switch (13) is turned off before the program is
completed, the furnace takes this as a power cut,
and will therefore use maximum power when it is
re-connected
to
temperature level before disconnection.
• Once program step A4 is completed the furnace
emits a warning buzz. A further buzz is emitted at
the end of A6. This buzzer can be disconnected by
pressing any key on the control panel.
• At the end of the process, remove the cylinders
and crucibles carefully. While the unit is running
the outer housing may heat up. The cylinders and
crucibles also heat up considerably, and so
gauntlets and tongs should be used when handling
them.
• To run another program, first stop the furnace by
holding down Stop/Start (5) for 5 seconds, then
selecting another program via the programming
key (14) and the Up/Down keys (8 & 9). Finally, re-
start the furnace by pressing Stop/Start (5) for one
second.
• Use the On/Off switch to disconnect the furnace
from the mains (13).
EXAMPLE OF PROGRAMMING
Let us assume that the furnace is to be programmed
for the following sequence of steps:
1. Start time: in 10 hours.
2. 1st Ramp Time: 300 ºC to be reached in 20
minutes (or heating 15 ºC/min).
3. 1st Plateau Time: temperature in the furnace is to
be held at 300 ºC for 1 hour.
4. 2nd Ramp Time: 700 ºC to be reached in 70
minutes (or heating 6 ºC/min).
5. 2nd Plateau Time: 700 ºC to be held for 60
minutes, after which the unit will emit a warning
buzz.
6. 3rd Ramp Time: 900 ºC to be reached in 30
minutes (or heating 7 ºC/min).
7. 3rd Plateau Time: 900 ºC to be held for 40
minutes, after which the program will come to an
end and the unit will emit a warning buzz.
This sequence is to be programmed as number 18.
The sequence of programming steps is as follows:
