1. Press the programming key (14). Check that the
display (2) shows a number between 1 and 20:
this is the number of the present program.
2. Use the Up/Down keys (8 & 9) to select the
number under which the program to be entered is
to be saved.
3. Press the function key (10). This accesses
programming mode. Check that the left-hand
display reads "A0" - this indicates that this step
can now be programmed. The lamp for step "A0"
(waiting time) on the synoptic display should also
come on.
4. Use the Up/Down keys (8 & 9) to bring up the
time desired for the first step on the right-hand
display (2).
5. Press the function key (10). Check that the left-
hand display shows "A1" - this indicates that this
step can now be programmed. The lamp for step
"A1" (1st ramp time or ºC/min) on the synoptic
display should also come on.
6. Use the Up/Down keys (8 & 9) to bring up the
time or ºC/min desired for the second step on the
right-hand display (2).
7. Press the function key (10) again. This time the
left-hand display should show "U1", indicating that
the final temperature for the first ramp can be
programmed.
8. Proceed in the same way to program the time or
ºC/min and temperature of each step in the
program.
9. The order in which the steps appear on display
(1) when the furnace is in programming mode is
as follows:
(A0) - waiting time.
(A1) - first ramp time or ºC/min.
(U1) - first plateau temperature.
(A2) - first plateau time.
(A3) - second ramp time or ºC/min.
(U2) - second plateau temperature.
(A4) - second plateau time.
(A5) - third ramp time or ºC/min.
(U3) - third plateau temperature.
(A6) - third plateau time.
10. When the program is complete, or at any time
during programming, you may exit programming
mode by pressing W/T (6), which acts as an
Escape key. The program will automatically be
saved in the memory under the program number

programming.
If you wish to eliminate any of the ramps or plateaux
in the program, simply allocate zero time and the
same tem perature as for the previous plateau: e.g. to
eliminate the 2nd ramp and 2nd plateau, set a figure
of 00.00 for steps A3 and A4, and the same
temperature at U2 as at U1. When working in
at
the
commencement
ºC/min, temperature for "U2" should be the
shame as for "U1" and any heating speed.
After exiting programming mode, you can run the
program by holding down Stop/Start (5) for
approximately 5 seconds. To select another
program, press the programming key (14) and
select the number of the program desired by
means of the Up/Down keys.
INSTALLATION
• Carefully unpack the unit. Inside the box there
should be an SiO
the muffle lining the inside of the furnace has
suffered no damage during transport.
• Set the furnace up on a smooth, firm, horizontal
base away from any source of vibration. Allow
enough space for ventilation. There should be
no other objects less than 15 cm from the unit.
Ensure especially that the ventilation tube is free
and at least 20 cm from the closest object or
wall.
• During normal furnace operation fumes may
filter through the ventilation tube. This tube
should therefore be placed below an extractor
hood.
• Connect the unit to a 230 V, 50/60 Hz, earthed
power outlet which protected by a thermal
magnetic cut-out with a suitable amp rating
(consult your installer).
• Before using the furnace heat it up to 300 ºC
and hold it there for one hour to evaporate off
any moisture in the muffle.
OPERATION
• Place the SiO
care not to damage the muffle.
• Switch on the On/off switch (13). Some of the
controls on the panel should flash to indicate
that the furnace is ready to operate.
• Put in the cylinders and crucibles to be heated.
When the furnace is operating, always use
gauntlets and tongs. Talleres Mestraitúa, S.L.
recommends MESTRA tongs.
• The furnace is factory-supplied with a series of
standard programs in its memory. However, it is
advisable to program the furnace as indicated
above to ensure that the programs stored meet
your own requirements. These programs can be
of
used and modified as required in future.
• Press the programming key (14). Display (2)
should show the number of the present program.
Use the Up/Down keys (8 & 9) to select the
desired program number. After programming,
hold down Stop/Start (5) for approximately 5
seconds, and the furnace will run the program
selected. Lamp (7) also comes on to indicate
that the program is running with no problems.
