The brightness of the LEDs is set to 25 %
GB
of the maximum value. To change the
brightness to 50 %, 75 % or 100 %, press
the button UP or DOWN.
After a function has been selected, the display will
start flashing. To activate the function selected,
press the button ENT; the display will stop flashing.
5.2 Interconnecting several
PARL-10DMX / UV spotlights
Several PARL-DMX10 / UV spotlights can be inter-
connected (master / slave mode). Thus, the master
unit will be able to control all slave units in sync.
1) Connect the DMX OUTPUT (12) of the master
unit via a 3-pole XLR cable (e. g. series MEC-...
or MECN-... from the product range of "img
Stage Line") to the DMX INPUT (11) of the first
slave unit.
2) Connect the DMX OUTPUT of the first slave unit
to the DMX INPUT of the second slave unit, etc.
until all units have been connected in a chain.
3) There must be no DMX signal at the DMX
INPUT of the master unit. Set the slave units to
the DMX address 001:
a) Press the button FUNC (6) repeatedly until
and the number behind it start flashing on the
display (5).
b) Press the button UP or DOWN to set the
address 001.
c) To memorize, press the button ENT. Once the
control signals from the master unit are
applied to the slave units, they will be con-
trolled by the master unit.
5.3 Operation via light controller
For operation via a light controller with DMX512 pro-
tocol (e. g. DMX-1440 or DMX-510USB from "img
Stage Line"), the PARL-10DMX / UV is equipped
with one DMX control channel. DMX is an abbrevi-
ation of digital multiplex and means digital control of
several DMX units via a common control cable. For
the functions and the DMX values see chapter 7.1.
5.3.1 DMX connection
For DMX connection, 3-pole XLR connectors with
the following pin configuration are provided:
Pin 1 = ground, 2 = DMX-, 3 = DMX+
For connection, special cables for high data flow
should be used. Standard microphone cables with
10
screening and a minimum cross section of 2 ×
0.22 mm
2
and with a capacity as low as possible can
only be recommended for a total cable length of up to
100 m. For cable lengths exceeding 150 m, it is gen-
erally recommended to insert a DMX level matching
amplifier (e. g. SR-103DMX by "img Stage Line").
1) Connect the DMX input (11) to the DMX output
of the light controller.
2) Connect the DMX output (12) to the DMX input
of the following light effect unit; connect its out-
put again to the input of the following unit, etc.
until all light effect units have been connected in
a chain.
3) Terminate the DMX output of the last DMX unit
in the chain with a 120 Ω resistor (> 0.3 W):
Connect a corresponding terminating plug (e. g.
DLT-123 from "img Stage Line") to the jack.
5.3.2 Setting the DMX address
For operating the UV spotlight with a light controller,
it is necessary to set a DMX address. If e. g. ad-
dress 10 on the controller is provided for controlling
the UV spotlight, set the address 10 on the PARL-
10DMX / UV:
1) Press the button FUNC (6) repeatedly until
and the number behind it start flashing on the
display (5).
2) Press the button UP or DOWN to set the
address.
3) To memorize, press the button ENT.
When the dot behind the
display, the control signals of the light controller are
present. It will now be possible to operate the UV
spotlight via the controller. If the dot fails to flash,
the controller is switched off, it is defective or the
connection to the controller has been interrupted.
6 Cleaning the Spotlight
The plastic pane in front of the LEDs should be
cleaned from the outside at regular intervals,
depending on impurities caused by dust, smoke or
other dirt particles. Only this will ensure that light is
emitted at maximum brightness. Before cleaning,
disconnect the mains plug from the socket.
Only use a soft, clean cloth and a mild detergent.
Then wipe the plastic plane dry.
To clean the other parts of the housing, only use
a soft, clean cloth. Never use any liquid; it may leak
into the unit and cause damage.
