Remove the Old Temperature Valve
Turn off the water supply.
Turn the flow handle to the open position to relieve pressure.
Carefully pry off the cap.
Remove the screw, lock washer, and temperature handle.
Remove the stop assembly using an adjustable wrench.
Using a 17 mm socket wrench, remove the temperature valve from the
valve body. Use care to not strip the threads.
Install the New Temperature Valve
CAUTION: Risk of internal leakage. Do not overtighten.
Overtightening may damage the valve and cause internal leakage.
Install the stop assembly onto the new temperature valve, aligning the
stop pin with the notch.
Thread the valve into the body until it is hand tight.
If a torque wrench is available: Using a 17 mm socket, torque the new
valve to 23-30 ft lbs (31.2-40.7 Nm).
If a torque wrench is not available: Carefully wrench tighten the valve.
Do not tighten more than 5° from the hand-tightened point.
Line up the black line on the valve splines with the slot.
Align the 37 on the handle with the reference mark on the valve body.
Reinstall the handle without rotating the installed valve components.
Turn on the water supply, and check for leaks.
