Basic safety information

Proper use
The ReptoHeater is designed to heat the water in an aquaterrarium and to
keep it at a constant temperature. It is only intended for use in closed rooms
at room temperature.
The ReptoHeater may only be used for the applications specified. Proper use
also includes reading and following these instructions. This applies in partic-
ular to the safety information and to the cleaning and servicing instructions.
The use of the product for any other purpose is regarded as improper and
may result in damage to property or personal injury and shall render the war-
ranty null and void.
The following are notable examples of improper use:
• Unauthorised modifications or repairs to the ReptoHeater
• Operation of the ReptoHeater outside closed rooms
Tetra GmbH will not accept liability for loss or damage incurred by improper
use.
Prevention of electric shock
Always connect the ReptoHeater at a professionally installed and earthed
socket (230 V ~ 50 Hz).
• Never touch the mains plug and power cable with wet hands.
• Make sure that the socket is immune to the ingress of water and moisture.
• Allow sufficient clearance for the power cable to hang down ahead of the
socket in order to prevent any drips from running down and entering the
socket. The lowest point of the power cable must be below the socket
(Fig. A).
• Unwind the full length of the power cable and do not bend it or crush it.
• The mains plug on the ReptoHeater must be easily accessible so that the
Repto-Heater can be disconnected from the power supply quickly in an
emergency.
• Pull on the plug to remove it from the socket and not on the power cable.
• Never allow children and persons requiring supervision access to the
ReptoHeater. These people cannot always make an accurate assessment
of potential risks.
• Never open the housing and do not carry out any modifications to the Rep-
toHeater, the power cable or the mains plug.
• Do not use the ReptoHeater if the ReptoHeater or the power cable is dam-
aged.
• Unplug the ReptoHeater immediately if it is damaged.
• If the ReptoHeater is damaged, please contact your local stockist or the
Tetra Technik Service Center.
