6. Inspection and Maintenance
Inspection before initial commissioning and before each use
Inspect the suction pads for contamination and visible damage.
Inspect both lashing straps for contamination and visible damage.
Inspect the transport trolley and in particular both pneumatic tyres for visible damage.
Any contamination and visible damage encountered must be remedied before use.
Regular Inspection
This inspection must be carried out every 20 operating hours, or if the transport trolley has been out of
service for 2 weeks or more.
Inspect the suction pads for contamination and visible damage.
Inspect the pneumatic tyres for contamination, visible damage, and wear.
Check the air pressure (3.5 bar).
Inspect the entire transport trolley for visible wear, deformation, bumps and dents on functional
elements, cracks, corrosion, loose screws and other defects which could pose a safety risk.
If you find any damage during the inspection, these must be remedied before use.
If you are not able to remedy the damage, shut the trolley down.
Inspection and Maintenance of Suction Pads
Two factors are decisive when lifting loads with a vacuum lifting device:
a sufficient vacuum
a sufficient friction between suction pad and load surface
First inspect the suction pads for cuts, indentations, and abrasion, especially on the outer sealing edges. Damage of the
suction pads considerably affects the load capacity of the vacuum lifting equipment.
Immediately replace a damaged suction pad.
Now check whether the filter sieve (page 23, no. 24) and the felt plate (page 23, no. 25) are available. They prevent the
vacuum-bearing components from clogging due to contamination. Immediately top up missing parts (see spare parts list).
The friction of the suction pads on the load surface is reduced, e. g. by contamination (oil, grease, dust, etc.), wear,
ageing, hardening and heat (sunlight, open fire, etc.).
If soiled, the suction pads must be cleaned with a suitable cleaning agent (Bohle Glass Cleaner BO 5107805), and a lint-
free cloth.
