2.1 GENERAL PETROL TOOL SAFETY WARNINGS

2.2 WORK AREA SAFETY

2.3 PERSONAL SAFETY

A) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and
use common sense when operating a petrol
tool. Do not use a petrol tool while you are
tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol
or medication. A moment of inattention while
operating petrol tools may result in serious
personal injury.
B) Use personal protective equipment.
Always wear eye and ear protection while
operating the machine. Protective equipment
such as a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes,
hard hat or hearing protection used for
appropriate conditions will reduce personal
injuries. Wear breath protection to reduce the
risk of exhaust gas.
C) Keep children and bystanders away while
operating a petrol tool. Distractions can cause
you to lose control.

connecting to power source and/or battery
pack, picking up or carrying the tool.

switch or energizing petrol tools that have the

and balance at all times. This enables better

F) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing
or jewellery. Keep your hair and clothing
away from moving parts. Loose clothes,
jewelery or long hair can be caught in moving
parts. While operating the machine always
wear substantial footwear and long trousers.
Do not operate the machine when barefoot or
wearing open sandals.
2.4 PETROL TOOL USE AND CARE
A) Do not force the petrol tool. Use the
correct petrol tool for your application. The
correct petrol tool will do the job better and
safer at the rate for which it was designed..
B) Do not use the petrol tool if the switch

that cannot be controlled with the switch is
dangerous and must be repaired.
C) Store idle petrol tools out of the reach of
children and do not allow persons unfamiliar
with the petrol tool or these instructions
to operate the petrol tool. Petrol tools are
dangerous in the hands of untrained users.
D) Maintain petrol tools and accessories.
Check for misalignment or binding of moving
parts, breaking of parts and any other
operation. If damaged, have the petrol tool
repaired before use. Many accidents are
caused by poorly maintained petrol tools.
E) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean.
Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp
cutting edges are less likely to bind and are
easier to control.
F) Use the petrol tool, accessories and
tool bits etc. In accordance with these
instructions, taking into account the working
conditions and the work to be performed. Use
those intended could result in a hazardous
situation.
G) Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry,
clean and free from oil and grease. Slippery
handles and grasping surfaces do not allow
for safe handling and control of the tool in
unexpected situations

Store fuel in containers specically designed
for this purpose. - For storing fuel or
equipment with fuel in tank: store away from
furnaces, stoves, water heaters or other
appliances that have pilot lights or other
ignition sources because they can ignite
fuel vapors. - refuel outdoors only and do
not smoke while refueling. - add fuel before
starting the engine. Never remove the cap of
the fuel tank or add petrol while the engine is
running or when the engine is hot. - if petrol
is spilled, do not attempt to start the engine
but move the machine away from the area
of spillage and avoid creating any source of
ignition until petrol vapors have dissipated.

J) Replace faulty silencers.

define at what time of the day and on
what special days products are allowed to
be used and what restrictions apply! Ask
your community for detailed information
and observe the regulations in order to
preserve a peaceful neighbourhood and avoid

Only operate the product at reasonable hours
- not early in the morning, late at night or on
weekends/public holidays when people might
be disturbed. Inform yourself about local
restrictions.
