Use this button to change mode according to the type of TV and disc
to be used.
When playing an NTSC disc, press SYSTEM to switch the mode
according to the TV system.
The mode changes according to the following table:

In MOD. PAL mode, the colour of the background is black when
the power is turned on or NTSC system discs are played.
in NTSC mode or PAL mode, the colour of the background is blue.

*SHRINK
Most models of the newly developed countdown PAL TV system
detect 50 Hz (PALV60 Hz (NTSC) and automatically switch vertical
amplitude, resulting in a display without vertical shrinkage.

IfyourPAL TV does not have a V-Hold control, you may not be able
to view NTSC disc because the picture may roll. Ifthe TV has a V-
Hold control, adjust it until the picture stops rolling. On some TVs,
the picture may shrink vertically, leaving black bands at the top and
bottom of the screen. This is not a malfunction; itis caused by the
NTSC — PAL conversion.

When the power cord is plugged in, and 'the power is turned on, the
HQ CIRCUIT function is set to ON. Each time the HQ CIRCUIT button
on the front panel is pressed, the setting of the HO CIRCUIT function
switches between ONand OFF. "HO CIRCUIT ON" or "HO CIRCUIT

displayed on the screen each time the function switches on
and off.

La plupart des modéles de téléviseurs PAL récemment mis sur le marché
sont en mesure de détecter le 50 Hz (PAL) ou le 60 Hz (NTSC) et changent
automatiquement l'amplitude verticale de sorte qu'il n'y 4 pas de réduction
de fa hauteur de l'image.

Sile téléviseur ne posséde pas de commande de balayage vertical (V-Hold),
il peut étre impossible de regarder un disque NTSC
car l'image peut défiler.
Sile téléviseur posséde une commande V-Hold, agir sur cette commande
pour arréter le défilement de image. Avec certains téléviseurs, fa hauteur
de l'image peut étre réduite et une bande noire peut apparaitre au-dessus
et au-dessous de l'image. Cela ne traduit pas un dé faut de fonctionnement
mais résulte de fa conversion NTSC
PAL.

Lorsqu'on branche fe cordon d'alimentation, l'appareil est mis sous tension et
la fonction HO CIRCUIT est automatiguement activée (ON). A chaque pression
sur la touche HQ CIRCUIT du panneau avant, la fonction HO CIRCUIT est
désactivée si elle est active, et inversement. Les mentions "HQ CIRCUIT ON"
et "HQ CIRCUIT OFF" apparaissent a |'ecran en conséquence.

@ When a NTSC disc is played back onto a PAL colour TV, the HO
MOD.

CIRCUIT button does not function. Even in trick playback mode of

a PAL system disc, "ON" or "OFF" is displayed on the screen.
However, the HQ CIRCUIT function has no effect actually. With
the S-VIDEO connection, the "ON" or "OFF" appears on the
display by pressing the HQ CIRCUIT button, but the S-VIDEO
output signal is not switched on and off. When an NTSC disc is
played back in MOD. PAL mode, "MOD. PAL" blinks in the lower
left corner of the screen by pressing the HO CIRCUIT button.

Lorsqu'on visionne une disque NTSC sur un téléviseur couleur PAL, la
touche HQ CIRCUIT n'a pas d'effet. La mention "ON" ou "OFF" reste
présente a l'écran méme pendantia lecture d'un disque au standard PAL en
mode de lecture plage & plage. La fonction HO CIRCUIT n'a toutefois aucun
effet. Si le raccordement est fait par les bornes S-VIDEO, les mentions
"ON" et "OFF" apparaissent a |'écran lorsqu'on actionne la touche HQ
CIRCUIT, mais ii n'y a pas d'effet sur le signal de sortie S-VIDEO.
Pendant
fa lecture d'un disque au standard NTSC en mode MOD-PAL, la mention
"MOD. PAL" clignote dans le coin inférieur de l'écran si on a appuyé sur la
touche HO CIRCUIT.
