2. Instructions for use - Safety area
1.
The instruction manual must have been read in full and understood before use.
2.
Non-compliance with the instruction manual may result in life-threatening injuries. In the event of a fall, ensure that the person in question is
not left hanging for more than 15 minutes (shock hazard).
3.
The trolley clamp is a mobile anchorage point to secure a person to prevent falling and may form part of an IKAR securing system. (See
the table below for the allocation of the respective trolley clamp type to the associated securing system.)
4.
If the trolley clamp is to be used on an existing structure, a qualified engineer must demonstrate that the structure can withstand the forces
arising in the event of a fall (9 KN for 1 person) by performing calculations in accordance with the technical building regulations. The field
lengths from the table below may not be exceeded. Similarly, the corresponding allocation of the beams can also be found there. The
trolley clamp may only be fitted to horizontal guide tracks (beams) with suitable end stops
5.
A plan for rescue measures that takes into account all potential emergencies in work-related scenarios must be in place.
6.
The device may only be used by persons who have received the respective training and who possess the respective expertise. No health-
related impediments are permitted (e.g. alcohol-related, narcotics-related, medicine-related, or circulation problems)!
7.
A functional check must be performed each time before use. The trolley clamp must run freely along the full length of the track above the
user. End stops must be in place that prevent the trolley clamp from running off the end of the structure. Check the legibility of the product
labelling.
8.
The system must be taken out of operation and reported to a line manager in the event of:
- stress following a fall, or
- damage, or
- doubt as to its functional state
It may only be put back into operation following an inspection and written approval by an expert.
9.
Repairs may only be performed by the manufacturer or a person authorised by the manufacturer
10. Pursuant to EN 362, only components of personal fall arrest systems compliant with EN 360 fall arresters, or
EN 360/EN 341 fall arresters with free wheel or EN 354/EN 355 connection device with fall arrest element or EN 353-2 guided type fall
arresters including a flexible anchor line may be anchored to the anchorage eyelet (Fig. 3) via a connection element (e.g. snap hook). Make
sure that the snap hook is properly seated. The user must also follow the instruction manuals for the corresponding personal protective
equipment. This includes in particular ensuring the necessary clear height beneath the feet of the user of the system being used.
11. Ensure that the trolley clamp is as positioned as vertically as possible above the person being secured when the work is being performed.
In the event of a fall there may not be any possibility of impact with the ground or other obstacles.
12. Depending on the load, but at least once every 12 months, the stop device must be checked by the manufacturer or persons who have
been trained and authorised by the manufacturer. This inspection must be documented in the enclosed test book. The effectiveness and
durability of the trolley clamp depend on regular inspections.
13. DGUV Regulations 112-198 and 112-199 must also be complied with.
14. The trolley clamp should be protected from the effects of welding flames and welding sparks, fire, acids, alkalis, extreme temperatures and
other similar environmental influences.
15. No modifications or additions may be made to the overall system.
16. Before first use, the manufacturer or an expert trained by the manufacturer must check that assembly has been performed correctly.
Approval for use must be issued in writing.
17. Please note: In order to prevent a negative impact on the safe function of the IKAR trolley clamp, it is only permitted to use accessories
approved by the manufacturer (e.g. rescue clamps to DIN 19428:2018, protective covers, etc.). The manufacturer is not liable for any
accidents involving the life and limb of the user if using non-approved accessories.
18. The carriages are maintenance-free. Depending on the conditions of use, the carriages must be cleaned of dirt at regular intervals (e.g.
rinsed with clean water).
19. Before using disinfectants, contact the manufacturer due to the complex legal product classifications according to the specific applications
and ingredients.
