4.1.3 Mounting the
phosphate dosing unit
The phosphate dosing unit must be installed
in the direction of flow. This is marked by an
arrow cast on the pipe connector.
Failure to comply with this will result in a
failure of the unit to function.
ATTENTION
(see
chapter
"Safety
dangers due to non-compliance")
The phosphate dosing unit must be installed
in a vertical position. The phosphate
cartridge must face upwards. The flange
must be fitted so that mechanical stresses
cannot
occur!
Otherwise
damage can result in the built-in rotary
flange. This may result in mechanical
damage, pipe burst or the breakage of the
built-in rotary flange. This can result in major
water damage. In this case, people close to
the phosphate dosing unit are exposed to a
health risk due to the large quantities of
water. Therefore, during installation, ensure
that no large forces act on the pipe, built-in
rotary flange and phosphate dosing unit.

Always observe the chapter "Intended Use"!
5.1
Commissioning
Prior to the start-up (Initial start-up or start-up
effected upon maintenance works) fill the
phosphate dosing unit with water.
De-aerate the device. At an extraction point let
out water for about 1 minute with a flow rate of
approx. 1000 - 2000 l/h (resp. 4,4 - 8,8 gal/min).
5.2
Functional description
Water runs through the built-in rotary flange
and
(3) into the phosphate dosing cartridge (1).
In this process the drinking water is added
small
amounts
polyphosphate (2). Thus the natural amount
of calcium and magnesium contained in
drinking water is stabilized. From this point
on no harmful lime deposits (e. g. found in
piping or at heater rods) can develop in the
installation. Phosphate is a mineral that is
also added to various foods.
When stabilizing the water hardness with
polyphosphates the consumption of deter-
gents is substantially lower. Due to lower
water hardness a washing machine e. g.
needs respectively less detergent.
