Aiming and Focusing the Camera
Important: If your lens is C Mount, ensure that the C Mount Adapter is
in place otherwise your lens will not focus correctly.
Important: When focusing, open the iris all the way to ensure that the
scene is in focus even at the shallowest depth of field. The iris can be
opened from the Avigilon Control Center software.
Important: If you are using IR illuminators, an IR corrected lens is
recommended to reduce focus shift.
The lens back focus is calibrated at the factory. This factory-calibration
should result in correct back focus for most lenses. Some lenses,
however, may require adjustment of the camera's back focus to
achieve focus.
To aim and focus the camera, complete the following steps:
1.
Adjust the lens focus to infinity (∞).
2.
If using a varifocal lens, adjust the lens zoom to telephoto
(T).
3.
Loosen the back focus locking screw on the side of the
lens mount using your fingers or a 7/64" hex driver.
4.
Turn the back focus adjustment ring until you focus on an
object beyond the object you want the camera to be
focused on.
5.
Tighten the back focus locking screw on the side of the
lens mount.
6.
Adjust the lens focus.
