1. Safety notes & maintenance
Please read through this chapter carefully and follow all of the safety notes which are given. This will ensure that you
can operate your device reliably and that it will last for a long time.
Operating environment
Outside influences:
- Do not place anything on top of the device and do not allow any objects to drop onto the device from above.
- Do not drop your device and do not shake it either.
- Ensure that you do not sit on the device if you place it in the back pocket of your trousers, etc.
- Do not keep or carry any inflammable liquids, gases or explosives in the same compartment as your device, its
parts or its accessories.
- Wireless devices could interfere with the reception of satellite signals and cause unstable signal reception.
GPS:
- GPS is operated and monitored under the sole responsibility of the government of the United States, which is also
responsible for ensuring the availability and accuracy of this system. FMI is therefore unable to accept responsibility
for GPS availability and accuracy.
- GPS satellite signals do not go through solid materials (apart from glass). GPS positioning is therefore not possible
within a building.
- At least 4 GPS satellite signals are required to determine the current GPS position. Signal reception may be impaired
by bad weather or dense obstacles above the ground (e.g. trees and tall buildings).
Temperature:
- When you get out of your vehicle, do not leave your device lying on the dashboard where it might be exposed to
sunlight. If the battery overheats, this may result in malfunctions and/or dangerous situations. The device may only
be stored at temperatures of from -20°C - 60°C and be operated at temperatures of from -10°C - 45°C.
- Keep your device away from excessive moisture and extreme temperatures. The device should only be operated
and stored in an atmospheric humidity of 0% to 90%.
- Do not expose your device to sudden extreme temperature fluctuations. This might cause condensation to collect
in the device, which might result in damage to the device. When condensation forms, wait for the device to com-
pletely dry out.
Notes on operation
- Never use the device while you are driving.
- The national road traffic regulations always take precedence over the instructions given by the navigation device.
- The route which is calculated should only act as a reference source. Users are responsible for following traffic signs
and local directions on the roads.
Power adapter (not supplied with the product)
- Please only use a PHIHONG, PSC05R-050 power adapter. Other types of power adapter may cause malfunctions
EN
and/or severe damage and cancel FMI's liability for consequences resulting from this.
- Do not use the power adapter in damp environments. Never touch the power adapter if your hands or feet are wet.
- Ensure that there is sufficient ventilation around the power adapter if you are using it to operate the device or to
charge the battery. Do not cover the power adapter with paper or other objects which reduce the cooling effect.
Do not use the power adapter when it is in a carrier bag.
- Connect the power adapter to an appropriate power source. You can find the voltage requirements on the product
casing and/or the packaging.
- Do not use the power adapter if its power cable is damaged.
- Never force a plug into a socket. If you are not able to push the plug into the socket easily, they are probably not
compatible.
- When you pull the plug out of the socket, you must pull on the plug and not on the cable. Ensure that you are easily
able to reach at least one end of the power cable, so that if necessary you can quickly disconnect the device.
