Fire and Burn Dangers
• The exhaust system gets very hot during operation. It will get hot
enough to ignite some materials. Ensure the generator is at least
1 metre away from buildings and other equipment during operation. Do
not enclose the generator in any structure. Keep flammable materials
away from the generator.
• The exhaust becomes very hot during operation and remains hot for
a considerable length of time even after the generator is switched off.
Do not touch the exhaust when it is hot, let the generator cool down to
ambient temperature before storing it indoors.
• Petrol is extremely flammable and potentially explosive under certain
circumstances. Do not smoke. Do not allow sparks or flames where
the generator is refuelled or where petrol is stored. Refuel in a well-
ventilated area with the engine switched off.

Preparing the Generator
• IMPORTANT: The Generator will be supplied without engine oil. Filling
and checking the engine oil level should always be done before use.
• Place Generator on flat level ground.
• Unscrew Dipstick (22) from Oil Filler Point (23)
• Carefully pour in oil, of type and quantity in the specification.
• We recommend pouring the oil using a funnel with filter gauze to keep
dirt out. (Silverline Tools product 793799)
• Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle.
• Make sure the Dipstick (22) is clean and dry, then screw it all the way
back in to the Filler Point (23)
• Remove the Dipstick again, keeping the stick pointing down, as shown
in Fig H.
• Oil should be to the top of the cross-hatched area.
• Add oil until level is correct, then replace the Dipstick.
Operating the Generator
• Ensure the Generator is on firm, level ground, prepared as described
in this manual.
Fuelling
• Always refuel in a safe place, well away from the work area, and any
source of heat or ignition. Avoid any contact with the fuel.
• Only add fuel when the engine is stopped and has cooled fully.
• Remove Fuel Tank Cap (19) and fill with fuel, see specification.
• Store spare fuel in a suitable container. (Silverline Tools product

Starting the Generator
• Set Fuel Tap (13) to ON
• Set Choke Lever (12):
• NOTE – choke should only be ON if the engine is COLD
• Turn ignition switch (2) to ON
• CHECK the exhaust area is clear of obstruction and flammable
materials. It will get hot quickly.
• Firmly pull starter handle (14 & Fig. E) until the engine starts
• NOTE – after each pull of the starter handle (14) control its return. DO
NOT allow it to snap back towards the Generator.
• The engine will run at a fast idle, allow it to do this for 20 - 30 seconds
• Slowly reduce the amount of choke (12) as the engine warms up.
Stopping the Generator
• Turn off any connected items
• Turn AC Switch (5) to OFF
• Allow engine to run at idle speed for 30 seconds
• Turn Ignition Switch (2) to OFF position.
• Turn Fuel Lever (13) to OFF position
• Allow the Generator and engine to cool fully before attempting to move,
or carrying out any cleaning and maintenance.
Operating the Generator
• Always start and allow the generator to warm up for a minimum of 5
minutes before using the AC outputs. This will improve fuel efficiency
and reduce wear, increasing the service life of your product.
• Ensure the AC Switch (5) is set to OFF.
• Plug your powered device into the correct Socket (6 or 8)
• Move the Output Switch (7) towards the chosen Socket.
• Move the AC Switch (5) to ON.
• Observe the Voltmeter (4) to check the output voltage is correct for the
device attached.
• When the connected device is switched on, it is normal for the
generator engine to change speed.
