Trimming at fences and foundations
IMPORTANT!
Do not touch fixed structures - danger of kickback!
1. Guide the machine slowly and carefully, without
allowing the cutting line to strike against obstacles.
Trimming around tree trunks
1. Carefully and slowly guide the machine around tree
trunks so that the cutting line does not touch the tree
bark.
2. Mow from left to right around tree trunks.
3. Strike the grass and weeds with the tip of the line, and
tilt the spool head forward slightly.
Trimming along stone walls, foundations and trees
results in increased line wear.
Mowing
1. Slant the spool head at a 30 degree angle to the right.
2. Turn the hand grip to the required position.
IMPORTANT!
Remove foreign bodies from the working area.
Danger of injury/damage to property due to objects
being thrown out.
Maintenance and care
CAUTION!
Danger from electrical current!
Before all maintenance and care jobs, disconnect
the machine from the mains and secure it to
prevent it from being switched back on.
After use, disconnect the mains plug and check the
machine for damage.
Keep the machine out of reach of children and
unauthorised persons.
Electrical malfunctions are only allowed to be rectified
by authorised specialist workshops.
Never use the machine if the blade of the line cutter is
missing or damaged.
Always keep the guard plate, spool head and motor
clear of mowing residues.
Do not spray the machine with water! Penetrating
water can lead to malfunctions.
16
Do not get the machine wet or expose it to moisture.
Regularly check the machine is in good working order.
Do not use any cleaning agents or solvents. They can
cause irreparable damage to the machine.
Cleaning the guard plate
1. Switch off the machine.
2. Use a screwdriver or a similar tool to remove mowing
residues carefully.
Clean the guard plate regularly in order to avoid
the stem tube overheating.
Changing the spool (Fig. 5)
1. Brace spool head (2) and use spanner (3) to loosen
fastening screw (2) clockwise.
2. Unscrew and remove fastening screw.
3. Pull the spool head off the drive shaft.
4. Remove spool (1) from the spool head.
5. Remove dirt and grass residues.
6. Thread the ends of the cutting lines from the new
spool into the openings provided for them in the spool
head.
7. Insert the spool into the spool head. Make sure that
the cutting lines do not become jammed, and pull
them out of the spool by about 9 cm.
8. Push the complete spool head onto the drive shaft
and tighten anticlockwise with the fastening screw.
9. Hold the spool head firmly and tighten with the
spanner.
Changing the line knife
1. Unscrew and remove the two screws arranged on the
inside edge of the guard plate and remove the old
line knife.
2. Insert the new line knife and screw it on again.
Do not overtighten the screws.
Sharpening the line knife
1. Remove the cutting blade from the guard plate.
2. Secure the line knife in a vice and sharpen it with a
flat file.
Only file in one direction!
