Safety precautions

This appliance may become a safety hazard if these instructions and

safety precautions are ignored. Keep this instruction manual.
Emergency: Remove plug from
power socket immediately.
Correct use
Appliance is for domestic use only
(non-commercial areas) and in
closed areas. Appliance must be used in
accordance with these instructions and
specifications. Use only capsules provi-
ded. If away for prolonged periods, on
holiday, etc. appliance must be emptied
and cleaned and the plug removed.
Liability of manufacturer will be voided due
to wrong use for not intended purposes.
Mains voltage must be the same as
the details on the type plate. Con-
nect the appliance to power sockets
with an earthing contact only. The use of
incorrect connection voids guarantee.
Do not place power cord close to
heat, sharp edges, etc. Do not
allow mains cable to dangle (risk of
tripping up). Never touch cord with wet
hands. Do not unplug by pulling the cord.
In case of damage, do not use the appli-
ance. In order to avoid danger, arrange
repairs and/or replacement of power cord
by NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Hotline only.
Do not place the appliance on a
hot surface (e.g. heating plate) and
never use it close to an open flame.
Do not use the machine if it is not
operating perfectly or if there is
evidence of damage. In such cases
inform the NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Hotline.

Always close extraction head with
capsule holder, and never open
during operation. Do not put
fingers under outlet during beverage
preparation. Never leave the appliance
while making coffee. Do not use appli-
ance without drip tray and drip grid,
except when travel mug is used. Keep
appliance / cable / capsule holder out of
reach of children. Do not pull up capsule
holder before indicator stops blinking.
Never carry the machine by the extraction
head. To avoid injury, do not touch the
needle of the capsule holder lever. Empty
and clean the drip tray daily. Do not
overfill water tank.
Do not dismantle appliance and do
not put anything into openings. Any
operation, cleaning and care other
than normal use must be undertaken by
after-sales service centres approved by
NESCAFÉ Dolce Gusto Hotline.
Keep children away from the appli-
ance. Children should not use the
coffeemaker.
Before cleaning/care unplug the
appliance and let it cool down.
Never clean wet or immerse plug,
cord or appliance in any fluid. Never clean
the appliance with running water, do not
hose it down and do not dip it into water.
Never use detergents to clean the
appliance.
Descaling:
Do not pull capsule holder up
during descaling process. Rinse
the water tank and clean the machine to
avoid any residual descaling agent.
After use of the coffeemaker
always remove the capsule and
clean the capsule holder. Dispose
of used capsules along with general
household refuse.
Packaging is made of recyclable
materials. Contact your local
council/authority for further infor-
mation on recycling.
Environment protection first!
Your appliance contains valuable
materials which can be recovered
or recycled. Leave it at a collection
point. This appliance is labelled in
accordance with European Directive
2002/96/EC concerning used electrical
and electronic appliances equipment –
WEEE). The directive determines the
framework for the return and recycling
of used appliances as applicable
throughout the EU.
