The "Synchronize" feature :-
The "Synchronize" feature is active only when the timer is counting down. Once the timer
is started, you may feel that you were late starting your watch and that consequently your
watch is a few seconds late. You may even have missed the preparatory signal
altogether. This is why we need the "Synchronize" feature in the watch.
When the next signal is given by the race officer, just press [SYNC] and the display will
drop down to the next full minute in countdown. For example, if the watch shows 4'08",
pressing [SYNC] will send the watch to 4'00" and it will continue to count down.
Likewise if the watch shows 3'35" or even 3'59" and you press [SYNC], the time will
jump to 3'00" directly. Therefore the [SYNC] button can be used to get your starting
sequence quickly in perfect unison with the official starter.
Timer Audible Signal enable / disable :-
The default setting for the timer audible signal is enabled and the
If you want to use the watch purely as a visual reference only, it is possible to silence the
audible signal by pressing [CLEAR] for 3 seconds in Timer mode or vice versa if the
audible signal is originally OFF. The
Compass Mode
Enter the Compass Mode using [MODE]. The display will show "COMP". Meanwhile,
bearing measurement starts.
About two seconds later, the display will show one of the 16 classified directions as
defined below. In order to minimize power consumption, the bearing measurement will
last for 30 seconds only. If you want to extend the measurement duration to 3 minutes,
press and hold [START/STOP] for 3 seconds. A beep will be heard when you first press
[START/STOP], then 3 seconds later another beep confirms your selection. Then the unit
will exit from Compass mode automatically and go back to Real Time Clock mode after 3
minutes. If you wish to return to another mode at any time press [MODE] and the 3
minute period will be cancelled.
If distortion is detected or there is time-out error, the display will show "FAIL!" on the
upper LCD.

At this moment, you may need to re-calibrate the digital compass as described below. If
valid data still exists in error cases, bearing data will also be shown on the display
together with "FAIL!" indication.
NOTE :
It is also possible to gain fast access to the compass mode by pressing [MODE]
and holding it for 2 seconds. A beep at the start and another at the end of the 2 seconds
confirm this.
How to calibrate the Digital Compass :-
This should be done when the watch is new or whenever the battery is changed or after a
FAIL message
Two calibration methods are available, and both can be used to get greater accuracy.
One is the rotation calibration and the other is to adjust the Angle Of Declination
(Variation), which is the angle between the magnetic north and the true north.
Press and hold [CLEAR] for 2 seconds to activate compass calibration. The display will
show "-TURN-" on the upper display. It indicates that rotation calibration is ready.
Press [START/STOP] at the state above to start the rotation calibration. The outer ring
icons will make a revolution in around 16 seconds. Turn the watch by following the icon
movement (i.e. turn the watch around once slowly in about 16 seconds). When a
revolution has been completed, press [START/STOP] again to stop the rotation
calibration. Now the display will show "donE".
If you do NOT want to go on with the adjustment of the declination (variation) angle,
press [CLEAR] once. This takes you straight to compass mode without this adjustment
If you DO want to go on with the adjustment of the declination (variation) angle, press
[MODE] once.
The current declination (variation) angle is displayed and is flashing. You can press
[PROG] to adjust the angle in the order of 0∞ to 90∞, then -90∞ to 0∞. At the end of the
angle setting, you can press [MODE] to go back to rotation calibration or [CLEAR] to exit
from calibration and back to Compass mode. Measurement will start when you are back
to Compass mode.
