Equipment Setup & Usage Instructions
Fusing a Fitting
NOTICE
Failure to use this equipment as
instructed can result in substan-
dard pipe fusion which may fail
immediately or over time and could
cause leaking, flooding, or sub-
stantial property damage.
• Always read and follow instructions and
warnings and do not use this equipment
unless you know how to operate it cor-
rectly .
• Follow and comply with all applicable
building codes, requirements, and stan-
dards .
• Always properly prepare pipe surfaces for
fusion .
• Corrosive chemicals and materials includ-
ing contamination in water can prevent
proper fusion .
• Have water tested by a professional
before performing work . Consult the
Plastic Pipe Institute for list of chemicals
that adversely affect plastic pipe .
(www .plasticpipe .org)
• Make sure pipe is free of debris and con-
taminants .
STEP 1
Prepare Pipe for Fusion
• Cut pipe cleanly and squarely using a
quality pipe cutter designed for the pipe .
• Gently wipe end of pipe with clean, dry
work towel to remove any oils or fluids .
• Remove any burrs or flash .
• Water inside of pipe can prevent proper
fusion . Make sure that pipe is free of
water before performing work .
• Always use new, undamaged TRITON
Fittings and Fusers that are the correct
size for the pipe you are fusing .
• Make sure that Fitting is in place and the
Fuser is properly positioned before initiat-
ing fusion .
• Always complete a full fusion cycle – do
not stop prematurely .
• TRITON Series TRP1 Fusion Weld Fittings
are for use with pipe manufactured with
PE4710 material with a dimensional ratio
of SDR11 .
• Insure pipe, fitting and control unit are
allowed to reach equilibrium temperature
before initiating fusion within the TRITON
operating range of 20°F to 110°F .
• Chamfer the end of the pipe 1/8" to aid in
assembly .
• Remove any surface oxidation and pre-
pare the pipe surface for fusing by using
a 120 gritt abrasive cloth or paper and
wiping clean with 80% pure isoprophy
alcohol . Allow alcohol to dry thoroughly
before assembly .
