System Operation During a Power Outage
OUTDOOR POWER INLET BOX
1. Using a 30 Amp 10 Gauge generator cord with NEMA 14-30
30 Amp locking plug and connector, insert the connector
end of the cord into the bottom of the outdoor power inlet
box by
a. Lifting the weatherproof inlet cover,
b. Matching the shapes of the cord connector openings
with the prongs of the power inlet plug, plugging the
cord in all the way and
c. Twisting the connector clockwise until it locks in place.
2. Start your portable generator.
3. Your indoor power panel should now be live with voltage.
INDOOR GENERATOR POWER PANEL
1. Only plug in one appliance per receptacle. Do not use multi-outlet extension cords to plug
in additional items. Make sure that extension cords are rated for the total amps used by the
item connected to them.
2. When all six receptacles on your indoor power panel are under generator power, the two
super-bright LED lights on the power panel will be ON. In a dark room with the lights off,
these lights will enable you to find the outlets easily and will help light up the area.
3. Alternate plugging in your heaviest appliance loads between the top three outlets and the
bottom three outlets. The heaviest appliance loads would be things like your refrigerator
or freezer, a window air conditioner, a sump pump, a hair dryer, coffee maker, toaster or
microwave. The lightest appliance loads would be things like your computer, lights, TV,
furnace blower or an electric fan.
